The Fundamental Laws of Wintreath, our draft regional Constitution, has been ratified by the Citizens of this region and is on my desk for approval, as per the procedures of the Constitutional Convention. This is a very special time for Wintreath, or any other foundered region for that matter. When a region is founded, all power is held by the founder and they serve as absolute ruler. Indeed, since Wintreath was created two months ago, our own region has been ran as an absolute monarchy by myself and those that I have trusted to best serve this region. But now, we have come together, founder and natives, and determined that the time has come that the region would be best served with authority
shared, by having the founder cede some of their previously unlimited authority to a regional government.
This is the basis of the
social contract between founder and natives in every foundered region which has a government: the idea that the region will best prosper if authority is shared with the people, and the promise that the founder, with his all-powerful in-game controls, won't circumvent, disrupt, or overthrow the resulting government or any decisions it makes in any way outside of the powers given him in the Constitution.
And now we are here. It took us a long time to get here. Our Constitutional Convention was long and drawn-out, but I think it was beneficial to our region. Our government structures are efficient and creative, and was created with the input of many people. Our Executive, myself, has enough power and authority to lead the region in a dynamic and strong manner, but our elected Underhusen also has real power and is not a puppet-branch of government. We've worked to minimize the destructive politics and divisions that plague other regions, and are responsible for the very creation of Wintreath, in favour of cooperation and community. Our Justice system will be a shining example of efficiency and justice, which I'm sure will not become the inactive, stagnant area of government that it is in many other regions. I feel we have created a Constitution and government with great balance that will serve us well.
Thus, having been approved by the natives of Wintreath at referendum, in my capacity as Founder of Wintreath, approve these Fundamental Laws and declare it the supreme document of our region. I swear to use my position as Founder to abide by, protect, and defend this document, the government based on this document, and all institutions, laws, and rights granted by this document or the government based on this document. May our Fundamental Laws bring glory and prosperity to Wintreath for ages to come!
