Because I've gotten so used to it, you should most definitely add Like/Dislike buttons to posts.

SMF has a karma system that I can enable with the click of the button that's similar...the thing is, your likes and dislikes are totaled and added to your profile as karma.

I always preferred the Karma system. The SlenderNation forum used to have Win Points/Fail Points that added up on the side of your posts. I liked that a lot.

This is pretty much finished.

You can now smite and applaud posts by clicking the appropriate links under the person's avatar...smiting is disliking, applauding is liking. You can see how many people have liked or disliked a post by looking in the upper right-hand corner where the thumbs icons are.

Additionally, you now have global karma based on the total likes/dislikes of all your posts. I have to admit I'm very uncomfortable with this aspect of it. I was on another forum where this was used, and it turned into a status symbol or popularity contest for some members of the community. If I see that happening here I'll yank that aspect of it, but I'm willing to give it a chance because it seems to be wanted...just don't abuse it. We don't want to be that kind of community.

I'm saying it's pretty much finished because I would like to still tweak it, so that it shows who liked or disliked, and I would like to move the applause/smite links into the post itself instead of on the sidebar. I'll work on that asap and keep this as unresolved until I'm finished and any issues with you guys with it have been addressed.
