No. It's been a few years since I've been seriously involved, though.

I got a recruitment telegram when I rejoined NS, three months ago.

I spend most of my time reading and playing computer games. I especially enjoy science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction and philosophy.

Hello! I am Ramón, 29 years old and from the Netherlands. I've been playing NS to pass the time, and after a few months I decided to try and get a bit more involved in it. What I've always liked about the NationStates community is that there are plenty of nice, small-scale forums - big enough to stay interesting, small enough that you can actually get to know the other members.

Families are kind of a roleplay thing, but they exist all through NationStates. To create a family, just say you're starting one and create a name for yourself, or you can join an existing family if you're close to someone already in one and they'll adopt you.

Apart from that you can take part in our General Discussions Forum, Wintreath's IRC, the chat area, or #wintreath on irc.esper.net.

Random greetings to you, too  What kind of projects would I be helping with in the CS? What kind of things can I expect?

Welcome to the region! I hope you enjoy your stay.

To answer that question, we're currently in the process of expanding what Civil Servants can do...currently you can write for our regional dispatch, serve as an ambassador to another region (requires experience), mentor to new Citizens (also requires experience), and recruiter. I know it doesn't sound like much now, but hopefully we can add even more as we grow it.
