Alright so, since I haven't really played that many games that I want to review recently, and decided to do this, I have decided to review an app. Please note that I will be using a 5 star rating system, instead of the 10 star ones I used in my Game Reviews.
Gun Zombie: Halloween is an app on the
Google Play store for Android and
iTunes for iOS devices. It's developed by PNIX Games, who has created two other games in the 'series' Gun Zombie: Hellgate(which seems to have been the first one, and is available for both iOS and Android) and Gun Zombie 2(iOS only)and is an Arcade Style Shooter, at least in my opinion. The game is free for download, but does use micro-transactions and has ads, which I'll get into later. However you came here for a review, and not a description.
First lets focus on the Gameplay, Gameplay mechanics, and to a lesser extent graphics. The mechanics are fun, at least for me, and it's easy to play. They even include a tutorial. The game has you move your screen on one side, and shoot on the other. If you stop moving, and release your finger, then your view will return to the 'neutral' point, which makes this almost impossible to play without glitching if you use an emulator to play this(this is done by moving the screen then moving to the side where you shoot and in an upper area(not to far up), you click and move the mouse around, causing you to shoot and aim at the same time). The game also uses a ranking system after you beat a level(and I assume your rank is equivalent to your amount of head-shots you get in a level, although I'm not exactly sure what it is) with the highest rank being S. While the gameplay at times seems a little clunky, I'm willing to overlook that mainly because of it's price, and the fact that it's a mobile game, thus it's not going to be as good as something that has a more powerful system in mind. The graphics themselves are rather good as well, although do seem dated, again this is a free game, so I didn't expect much.
Next is the Cost, Ads, and micro-transactions. The cost obviously makes it worth downloading, even just to try it out and decide you hate it, however the one major drawback is the ads, it has small ads at the top of the screen in between levels and stuff, which I don't mind, it's the ads that appear after you beat a level, and before you decide what to do it displays an ad you must hit the X button in the corner before continuing. Also for me, at least, the ads that display in between may be coded into the game itself or the people who supply the ads really suck. The ads there are really annoying and can take away from the gameplay experience as well, due to the fact the game sometimes appears to freeze(and for some users it actually freezes), while it loads it up the ad. Also the game has micro-transactions, which allow you to buy upgrades, which appear to remove ads, to buying more Gold Points(the in game currency), which also seems to remove ads from what I can tell(although I haven't actually been able to test it).
In conclusion, Gun Zombie: Halloween, is an interesting game that has nice mechanics. While the app seems a bit Clunky and bad in some areas of gameplay, it is still rather fun, and it's free as well. The only downside is the ads, which do disrupt the experience, and it also has Micro-transactions as well. The app, is a great time-sink/time-waster for when you are out and about and have some time to kill. The fact that it is free does make the fact that in some areas the game did do poorly, a bit less important in my opinion. It doesn't have great graphics, but then again it is a free game. The only bad things, in my opinion, are the micro-transactions(which I am willing to overlook due to the fact I don't give a shit about them) and the ad system, which sometimes breaks the game. So in the end my Verdict gives this a 3.5 out of 5.
Edit: I can't get the video to embed as I don't know the code to do soEdit 2: Alright it seems that using https instead of http causes it to fuck up
