As the President of my respective region, I was asked to initiate formal discussions on building an embassy between our two regions. A region with strong democratic values, a dynamic and constantly expanding government (https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=2020229), and numerous civil affairs initiatives and events is the Union of Allied States (https://www.nationstates.net/region=union_of_allied_states). Right now, we have around 220 nations. Please let me know if I need to provide any information.

- Neutral and pacifist.

Who was the advisor that recommended requesting embassies / do you know why they recommended requesting embassies?

I believe I can probably answer the who if not the why.
Several days ago, Urban sent me a message asking about establishing relations. I told him that I no longer approve or reject relations with other regions on my own, that it was now based on discussion and a rough consensus of our Citizens, and that an application would be required to trigger that process.

@jackit_attack: Thank you for your patience while we deliberate. I have a few questions based on the first day of discussions we've had on our end.
1) Your region currently has a nation, Maniaca, who last month was identified as a "fascist simp" (your own words on the UAS RMB) that had been banned in the region Roses Without Thorns. It seems that they were roundly and rightly condemned and impeached out of a government position, and there were many statements to the effect that UAS doesn't tolerate fascism. So why are they still there?
2) Concerns have also been raised about potential hostility toward transgender people in UAS. Our community has a large LGBTQ+ community...it's a part of our community that we proudly promote, and it's important that all elements of our community be comfortable with the regions which we have relations with - one of the reasons we make these decisions by consensus to begin with. More directly, it's possible that we would send out transgender ambassadors and wouldn't want to send people anywhere that might be hostile to them. Is there such hostility in your community?
You should also be aware that concerns were also raised about some of your foreign relations. However, as an individual I feel these questions are most pertinent because they directly touch on our own principles and values as a community.

Maniaca (http://www.nationstates.net/nation=Maniaca) isn't active and doesn't say much; if he became trouble or more evidence came to light, we would take him to court and get rid of him.
South Waterford (the founder of UAS) and I are both bisexual. We are extremely gay-friendly, and I built an embassy with Gay Equality and have ties to their region. UAS has some conservative voices and some liberal voices; it is an even split. There is no one calling for anything crazy or extreme directly, and we keep things civil. We actively encourage debates between anyone; all is fair so long as people are civil. UAS is also tagged as LGBT.
