Title: Signups: The stupidest game of werewolf you'll ever play
Post by: Ruguo on April 21, 2021, 03:47:32 AM
It's time, friends.

While you anxiously wait the triple threat chaos of Werewolf XXV, I bring you what is quite possibly the most half-baked, ridiculous idea I've ever had that actually ended up being pretty okay.

For those of you already in the know on Discord, this is...

Botwolf

For those of you just tuning in, Botwolf is werewolf, but written entirely by a mostly functional bot that I wrote a few years back and decided to dust off and polish just for this purpose. It also has a (almost comprehensible) "chatbot" feature, in which it can reply to your questions should it be needed.

So, what makes this the stupidest game of werewolf you'll ever play? Well, just how stupid it is is up to you. So when you decide to play this coming monstrosity, I need a few things to tell the bot what exactly it is generating to set some groundwork. Also, let's not argue with each other in this thread, the bot will ultimately make all decisions based on the frequency of an item cropping up, so there's really no point.

To register you must:
State a number less than or equal to five
State a number greater than or equal to ten
State the name of a team/faction
Write one sentence
Indicate which of the following options you prefer in terms of bot dictatorship:
1. The bot writes all roles and flavour, but not the rules. The bot has no say in moderation calls.
2. The bot writes all roles and flavour, and writes some rules. Standard other rules will apply. Bot is given limited moderation powers and can be asked questions in game. A real live person will be able to override the bot at any time.
3. The bot has total reign over the game. No human may question it's authority. All questions must be answered by the bot. All hail the bot.

Signups will run until Sunday the 2nd.

Those signed up

  • Vroendal
  • Cozmikrae
  • Anubhav Ghosh
  • Wischland

Pregame questions for the bot and answers
Why should we play?
Because you are the sole key to either saving your friends in some way or at least insuring that they had been killed
From KoD: I am not going to throw away my shot, but will you throw away yours?
I may not talk to you please.

Signups will run for one more week I've decided. I'd like to have a few more people before we start for maximum chaos. On that note, feel free to ping anyone you'd like and bully them into playing.

I'm honestly surprised no one has asked any questions of the bot while we wait. But hey, we're up to 11!

...I have a feeling some of you will regret your choices of numbers once it is revealed what they were for....

Current selections are such:

Number less than or equal to five: 3
Number greater than or equal to ten: 20
Factions: I can't tell you exactly how many there are going to be or if any names will stay the same in the end, but here are the potential options so far:

(It REALLY likes space tunnel snakes. It's like its favourite thing to generate. I'm not saying that can't change, but you might want to expect some space tunnel snakes in the game. It's unclear at this time what alignment it will assign said names as I haven't made it do the big generation yet.)
Sentence: After amiably answering all buffalo, I see this is not a fully armed battalion.
Bot dictatorship level: 3

Expect this to all change by gametime, just thought I'd share the current generation

T-minus one day update:

Final generation is in! At this time, no new data will be collected. Players may continue signing up until Tomorrow at 5pm central. Roles will be distributed at some point between Sunday night and Monday morning.

There will be 3.5 factions in this game. (There were almost five. You monsters)
There will be 20 bot generated rules to follow
The teams followed by this game will be The cult of Burning Town (That's not going to confuse the role writing portion of this at all, nope), Unaffiliated horrors from space, Party wolf villagers (Again with the confusing names), and apparently there needs to be half a team, so... Time. Yes. That's it. You're all playing against some actually half baked faction called Time.
The sentence that will be used to kickstart the flavour writing capacity of the bot is as follows: "This is not an applecart. This is a buffalo. " Observed an agreeable assailant after almost annoying an armed person, nearly causing a coconut accident.
The bot, by popular vote, has been given total, unquestionable authority over the game. Best of luck with that.
