Clickwar Season 1: Legacy of Power
A whole new world awaits to be claimed, conquered, and shaped! Vie with other players to gain control of lands, name them to your liking, and hold them to build a legacy!
Welcome to Clickwar, the successor to the Summersend Spam war game! Playing is very simple, just click a tile and select the attack link to place a point of power in that tile. The person with the most power in a tile owns it and can name it as they wish. Be careful though, once you have at least 30 points of power your power can decay each hour if others have been active in that tile and you have not been! If you can manage to hold a tile for at least 24 full hours, it will begin generating legacy for you, which is a measure of the impact you've had throughout the game. Your legacy is timeless, and will not decay. For this season, there are two leaderboards you can climb: most tiles owned and most legacy, who dominates the game now and who has dominated it the entire game.
Which will you go for? Or will you go for both?
As you may have noticed, Clickwar will be played in seasons, with major updates to the game being added with each season. The current season will run until March 15, 2019.
Season 1 Development Log
Spoiler
December 12, 2018- Points are no longer gained by making a post, but by clicking a tile and selecting the attack link.
- Added attack timer, which is 30 seconds by default.
- Removed coordinates from tiles, as they're no longer needed to reference to attack.
December 13, 2018- Moved the information pane from below the map to beside of it for PC screens. For mobile devices it should remain below the map unless the site is in desktop mode.
- Added visible attack cooldown clock (suggested by taulover)
- Fixed issue where guests had the option to attack a tile
December 14, 2018- Fixed issue with negative cooldown timer when the page first loaded. (reported by Gerrick)
- Fixed issue where alert boxes would pause the client-side timer. (reported by Gerrick)
- Owners of a tile can now set a name for it!
December 16, 2018- In cases where there is a tie for most points in a tile, the owner will be the person who first accumulated that amount of points (opposite of the most recent, or the person that just clicked).
- A new option for grid bordering! The new default is to draw borders around clusters of tiles owned by the same person, but there is an option to return to all tiles being bordered as it was before.
December 18, 2018- A new map mode feature! You can now switch between the normal mapmode you're familiar with and the new Leader Status mode that will color-code the tiles based how many points you are in the lead or from the lead. The more points ahead you are of the next person, the greener the tile, while the further away you are from a leader, the redder the tile. The exact number of points you're in the lead or away from it now shows under the tile name on the right when you click a tile as well.
- Point decay has been implemented. The number of points that will decay for each person in each tile per hour is points/30 rounded down. This means that points will only decay if you have at least 30 points, and from there for every 30 points you have an additional 1 point will decay per hour.
December 19, 2018- New owner map mode! In this map mode, each player has a colour that's displayed...almost makes it look like a country on a map when combined with the cluster border grid mode.
December 20, 2018- Point decay now only applies to tiles that have seen action in the previous hour, and within those tiles only toward players who were not active in the tile in the previous hour.
- You will now receive a notification when you lose a tile.
December 22, 2018- The information panel at the right side now shows who owns the most tiles when the game is opened.
- Some very minor UI work (positioning the map, colors, etc.).
December 24, 2018- Ownership and name changes for each tile are now recorded for posterity! You can click the History tab once you have selected a tile to see the history of that tile.
December 28, 2018- Legacy has been introduced. This is a longer-term stat that gets higher as you hold tiles for a longer period of time.
- The way tile history is stored has been updated to include a note on whether it was a change in owner or tile name, to prevent an issue where legacy generation is reset due to a tile name change.
- An issue where the server blindly trusted the player ID sent from the client in some action requests has been fixed.
December 31, 2018- The right-side UI has been finalized and skinned, with a new options section to switch your map options (and any future options). You can now switch back to the leaderboards after selecting a tile as well.
- The selected tile now has a yellow border around it (borders between players take precedence though)
January 3, 2019- Donate menu button has been added. Just a subtle hint to anyone that would like to support me and my work. :)

Why is this in the Technical forums?
-
And why aren't attacks working, and why are you showing up twice in the leaderboards?
-
Yeah not working for me either here :s
-
Sorry, I meant to post this in my private area so I could make sure it worked. :P
-
Should be ready to go now, so go go go! :D

Tonight's Updates:
January 5th, 2019
- Fixed issue where certain stats got mixed up between games (for instance, between this game and the test Cabinet game)
- Fixed issue where tile attack link was presented to guests (though this link did not work for guests)
- Fixed issue where unowned tiles where wrongly colored
- Added default grid and map options for when a player hasn't made a move yet
-
Is it intended for the tile to turn colorless between 15-20 points ahead in Leader Status mode?
-
Thank you for leaving me my castle and for keeping the Neutral Zone
-
Welp, looks like Mathy decided not to leave you with it.
-
Mathy why not take one of Sapph's places instead? ;.;
-
Hey! I see you, Crush.
-
It shall not avail you, Wuufu!
-
Lol it would appear I arrived too late xD
-
Lol it would appear I arrived too late xD
Not necessarily, there's quite a few viable moves you can make.

Well to be fair, a whole grid of red is quite intimidating.... considering the red maxes out at -20.
-
Damn, BSR.... :P
-
Also small bug I suppose? Between 10-15 the green color is broken I think? It's appearing default grey to me @Wintermoot
-
So many brown/tan players!
-
Damn, BSR.... :P
I believe given the decay mechanics as I understand them you have more to lose than I do as well :P
I only control one tile... you control two others by quite a good lead ;)
-
You dare take your Pope's tile?! EXCOMMUNICATED!

*technically* I reclaimed it after it was claimed by Mones... :P

Yeah pointed that out several days back. Though I've actually ended up wondering if it's a feature and sometimes even hoping it'll stay since it's a nice easy-to-see warning that your lead has dropped below 20.
-
All the tiles have been grey from the beginning of the game for me.
-
And I believe it would make sense if my tiles were red. :P
-
It depends on the map mode you're in, see game options.
-
Ah, that worked, thanks!
-
Y'all need to stop causing my network of 69s to decay.
-
Two and a half hours later, I have a tile!
-
mones no
-
Oh was the timer fixed?
-
That was one helluva battle, tau. Respect. I concede....for now.... :P
-
As for the timer: it seems like it might be better than before? But still freezing when backgrounded sometimes I think

While working on the next update, I discovered a bug that would allow a recaptured tile to continue generating legacy at the rate it was the last time the player owned the tile instead of resetting it to zero. Given the impact such a bug can have, it's been fixed on both the development and production games.

This came up on the Discord a few days ago IIRC and the conclusion was that the legacy actually resets to 0 on the hour, so the effect is only cosmetic? Still good to see fixed.

Clickwar has a Discord channel! #clickwar on the Wintreath server!
Even better, when tiles are captured or renamed, an update will be posted on the channel, letting you keep watch on what's going on in the game without having to check the topic! Both the development and live versions of the game have been updated with a link to the new channel as well. :)
-
@Wintermoot when you took my tile the notification had a blank space instead of the tile name
-
Well looks like that bug was fixed now. :D
-
I think there is an issue with the tile between Angard and Wintermoot's original tile. This might just be me seeing this though. An hour ago it was updated to be called Hot Radish Test by Wintermoot meaning he controls the tile yet there was no change less than that to update Tau taking over that tile and the tile is generating 13 or 14 legacy even though it was recently taken over. Is that an issue?

I counted the legacy points that I gained this past hour, and it's actually generating 0 legacy for me. (I went from 11912 to 11975, which is 63 legacy.)
In fact, it's still generating legacy for @Wintermoot (who gained 16 legacy rather than 15).
The history also does not note the last two times I took the tile, as you noticed. (You're wrong about Moot renaming it an hour ago though, the history says 1 day ago.)
This is likely because I acquired the tile via point decay both those times, which apparently is currently an unforeseen edge case (possibly during the last time Moot tried to fix the previous legacy bug?).

Endgame Update
I made a small update so the season will automatically end at the end of the day (UTC). After that time, you will no longer be able to attack or name tiles, points will no longer decay, and legacy will no longer generate. I hope that everyone enjoyed Season 1 of Clickwar! :D
-
I can't wait until the next season, I think it's gonna be pretty awesome!

It makes me excited that someone else is excited for it! :D
