Hello, everyone! I'm the RP Thane and am very pleased to announce that I am working (in the final stages of, actually) on a National RP called A New Day! Before I begin sign-ups or anything more, I wanted to first test the waters, so to speak, and see if anyone would be interested in a National RP and see if any new, interesting ideas present themselves.
First, let me describe what I have created so far.
Setting
The year is 2000 on the planet Wintreath. It's a big planet with many, many nations (I hope).
The main setting for everything will be at the Coalition Of Nations, a recently created entity that seeks to have all nations as members (thus handwaving new additions) but does not, yet, and wants to facilitate co-operation between Nations. Basically, think a UN Or Leauge of Nations Expy.
The reason for the creation of the Coalition is going to be some massive catastrophe (I'm leaning towards war, much like how WW1 sparked the creation of the LON) between NPC nations (more on that later) that ended in massive loss of life.
The Coalition will be headquarted in a Neutral island with no specific ties to any one player. Think of it as Switzerland, but an island.
Technology will be at 2000's level, and I' mleaning towards having no map at all since that would be, in my opinion, difficult to incorporate without creating a whole heap of unneccesary palava.
There will be 'NPC' nations, pre built nations (by me) that will not serve as players but so that, if the gamerunner wants, they can have a setting for whatever they want to happen. Think of them as a blank canvas that people can use if they wish. They will not ever take part in any specific goings on unless they are involved by the game runner.
How the game will be played
The way the game will be played is this. There will be a Topic for the Coalition side of the Roleplay, basically where ambassadors to the Coalition and the inter-nation dealmaking takes place.
1. Once every player has announced they are playing and the session begins they will all get specific objectives, specific things they need to do to score a point. An example:
[1. Get a Condemnation of Evilland in the Final Resolution.
2. Prevent a Comdemnation of Goodcountry in the Final Resolution.
3. Arrange a free trade agreement into the Final Resolution between Goodcountry and yourself.]
Objectives will be handed out by the game runner and are going to be designed to be difficult to get everything you want. Compromise will be required, pretty much. Players will not be allowed to reveal their objectives.
2. After a period of time(decided by the game runner), players may submit a Final Resolution to the Coalition. All players will get to vote and when a majority of players vote aye for a Specific Final Resolution the session will be over and the objectives will be revealed. Points will be tallied and who ever gets the most points (probably more than one person) wins the Session.
However, another Topic will be dedicated towards the Nation side of things, specifically a place where you can RP the goings on inside your Nation and where, if neccesary, War can be RP'ed.
I leaning towards no map since I want to avoid a situation where we run out of room or just keep expanding the map ad infinitum.
Rules
1.I have final say over disputes as the Loremaster of the RP. That includes accepting applications. I generally want to avoid Republics of Mary-Suetopia that have 10 billion people and space laser tech.
2. OOC, civility is king. No uncalled for name calling or ungentlemanly conduct. IC, I will accept some, so long as it does not go to far..
As you can see, it will be a bit different. The main thing I'm concerned about is not including a map, just having the exact locations of the nations be imprecise (kind of like Nationstates). I'm also curious to know if any and all ideas! Thank you for your time :]
