Hello everyone!!
We in the Underhusen were discussing a little bit of a possibility to increase political activity artificially/allow "politics" to exist in the region in a way that doesn't actually impact the feelings between people in the region in really negative ways, the way that regional politics traditionally does in NationStates regions.
So, what would everyone think of a voluntary to join mock US Congress or UK/Canadian Parliament? Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? :)
-
And credit to @Wintermoot, who mentioned something like this long ago. The Underhusen is just discussing setting up the ground rules for this, if there's enough of an interest.
-
Admittedly I'd probably thrive here. I imagine it'd be like political discussion meets debate team meets mock parliament :)
First thing we need to do is choose a country to model ourselves after for this, or whether to meld many nations together. Once we get enough interested MPs/congressmen/delegates we can perhaps take a vote on that issue.
-
Isn't that essentially what the Storting is though? The only difference being that it has power, and I'd assume this mock thing wouldn't have any power, thus it should be dealt with by the Monarchy and not the Storting (ideally).
-
We debate RP regional laws and politics in the Storting, not real world stuff.
-
We can already debate real world stuff here....which again further cements the fact that the Executive should be the one doing this, not the Storting.
To be fair I probably wouldn't take part in this. These kinds of things just don't interest me. In real life I wouldn't mind it, but online it just doesn't have the same feeling, and also lacks any of the weight that politics needs for me to become engaged.
(Also I will note that the Storting, for me, is not really RP...and I detest the view that it is tbh)
Edit: ALSO can we PLEASE add spaces between the /'s in the topic? It messes up formatting for me on the main page...
-
The executive government hasn't yet done anything with the idea. And since we really don't seem likely to do much else at present, we might as well discuss this, even if we're not allowed to set any rules at the end of the day. We can still discuss how it might best work, instead of finding some other RP problem to contend with that is unlikely to ever be a problem anyway.

Other RP Problem?

Umm Chanku I think tau means Regional Politics with "RP" not "Roleplay" ;)
-
Also @Chanku sorry about the formatting on the main page I think it's annoying too but I'm not mod of this section of the forum sawwy :-[

Perhaps we should use ReP or something...to prevent confusion...

Yes. Just... yes.

I did mean Roleplay. That is all the vast majority of our laws and "debates" amount to.
