Title: Four more terms!—Barnes for reelection
Post by: Barnes on May 29, 2016, 10:22:43 PM
Hello again, Wintreath! (*) No, it's not actually four terms, unless I were to pursue an unprecedented year+ in the Underhusen.

However, I wanted to once again mention how amazing this community has been for me, for you, for all of us. We've grown incredibly in the short time I've been here, and I want to continue what has made me so proud to be a part of.

I'm proud to stand by my experience here in the Underhusen, both as Speaker and as a Skrifa, and am incredibly grateful to have served in both roles. I've proposed and/or amended the text of many of the bills passed in each of my terms in the legislature, and I've also submitted several proposals to keep our Constitutional Convention alive, if only to throw out ideas.

I've been active, both as Speaker and as a general member, in participation in most everything, from updating our Laws page to our roleplays and culture to citizenship discussions. June and July should be even more active for me now that it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere and I have fewer worries at home and at school.

I believe I have the support of my colleagues, some of whom are regretfully not running this election, but I wanted to congratulate them on such a good job they all have done.

Thank you for your time, Wintreath! Does anyone have any questions?

Are you a heretic?
Do you worship the one and only potato god?
Would you support a bill making the potato faith the one and only religion of Wintreath?

I am a potatoist agnostic. I fear the potato god's power to both kill and nourish millions of Irishmen, but I am at the same time unsure if there are other vegetable gods, or even no gods at all. It is not a likely scenario, but I must keep it in mind lest I lie to myself. As such, I would abstain on any bill regarding the potato faith, neither confirming nor denying its official standing in Wintreath.

I don't know about everyone else, but that just screams "heretic." I shall pray for your soul, sir.

So on actual matters of substance...:P

Besides the Convention mess, what would you like to see the Storting accomplish in the next term?

I have several broad goals, but I'm not sure exactly how much each of them have to do with the Storting. I would like to:
A lot of these are in regards to already-implemented cabinet initiatives, but I wonder if they have practical applications inside the Storting. Other than that, these are mostly statements I've said before.

I don't think I'm quite ready to run a region... yet :P

In regards to the Constitutional Convention, how many more Underhusen sessions do you foresee are required before we can finally end it once and for all, with a solution satisfactory to the majority of the region?

@Sapphiron My most optimistic guess is one or two terms, depending on how well everyone concentrates their thoughts toward the subject.
