Anyway, I'm sure I can't be the only one who absolutely loves music of all genres. So this is a thread for music. Whether it's something you've had in your head for a while, something that you've loved since childhood or just something catchy you heard on the radio, post it here. No need for a paragraph to go with it, I just wanted to do justice to a topic about something so close to my heart. You don't have write any words if you don't want to. But I'd love it if we all shared our tastes with one another, and broadened our musical horizons.

I would say I first got into listening to music when I was 13 and started paying attention to what was on the radio...I'd always been mostly into pop, though I could listen to anything. In the last few years, my interests have turned to more instrumental music...game soundtracks, relaxation sounds, and even white noise (I know, the last two aren't really music). I find it easy to relax to, and I don't get distracted with vocals when I'm working on something else.
I have to admit, I really have a thing for the original WoW Elwynn Forest music. :P

My dads gone on the tour of North Korea. Cost him quite the pretty penny... Said it was of some interest or note but didn't directly recommend it.
Man, that's awesome. It's the airline tickets that are expensive mostly, the tour package itself looks about at par with the prices one would expect from vacations in the south.
I know about how you aren't allowed to wander around by yourself, photography being controlled and that you are stuck with guides who swear the current Kim never shits, that everything is empty everywhere, the people are scared out of their minds of you and so on, but NK has stunning natural beauty and tons of Kim statues everywhere. I've always wanted to go on the tour to be honest. It's perhaps one of the last chances we have to observe paranoid Communist irredentists in their natural habitat...well, I could go to Transnistria, but that's just way less fun.

Creativity is also a complete mystery, to this day.
So there really is no validity to the claim that humans aren't unique.
It is because of this that I don't wish to conform to cliques, nor do I wish to make anyone else conform to any philosophy I may have of the world and its inhabitants, or my own personal tastes. There really is no point in even trying to do this.

On occasion, there will be group collaborations for songs or even entire albums that, once again, people can download for free and just have to listen to when they want. Music very much ranges, some being objectively good...some being a great attempt, but could be better. Overall though, there's something for most people, with over 3,734 listed remixes for a growing list of games, 129 released albums including many songs not included on the remix list, and new remixes arriving every couple of days (and they're always working on new albums).
There have been remixes for Katamari, many for the various Legend of Zelda titles, Golden Sun, the Final Fantasy series...there've even been remixes for random titles such as Jet Grind Radio (DC), Darkwing Duck and Little Nemo (NES titles), and even Tetris. If you're a fan of video game music, I highly recommend checking it out and seeing some of their work.
One such one I'm listening to which has instantly became a favorite of mine is called "To the Horizon." It's a medley of songs from my favorite game, Skies of Arcadia. Normally, the judges are very against medleys, but this is one that absolutely blew them away, and I can definitely understand why. The remixers for this particular bit took such great care in the source material, and it really captures the spirit of the game.
It combines 7 of the songs from the game into a 13m 37s medley. The main recurring piece of music is the theme that plays when you travel through the Arcadia map in your best ship, the Delphinus. 5 of chosen songs are bits from towns/areas you visit in 5 of the main areas of the game, and 1 is an incorporation of the main antagonist theme. Each has been altered just a bit to flow with the medley...and they do so wonderfully.

Like...the soundtrack for Skies of Arcadia was already pretty good given it's already a fully orchestrated soundtrack and overall just sounds quite lovely (especially for a Dreamcast video game). But this medley definitely did it justice.
You're going to find a good number of quality songs like that, however. There's two particular artists: Jillian Aversa and Katethegreat, which I highly recommend looking into on there for their work (they both do some very lovely vocals). If you're more into the rap/hip hop vibe, there is some great work on there by Jose the Bronx Rican. Basically, you'll find a bit of everything created by amateur musicians, professional musicians, and even songs remixed by well known composers (such as this one remixed by Minecraft's soundtrack composer, C418 aka Daniel Rosenfeld (https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02334)).

Radiohead is just on a different level sometimes. It's a shame that I'm one of the few who just doesn't quite 'get' their music. I much prefer straight rock acts like Muse.

I ended up not liking the new TOOL album all that much, but by God, this is a good song. It has a really epic and apocalyptic edge to it. The lyrics are incredibly powerful. Honestly, even though the album didn't end up living up to my expectations (which were absurdly high, so perhaps it was never possible to do so), this is one of their best songs ever for me. I just don't understand why they couldn't end it after 6 minutes, because the song is really over after that. Instead, it goes on for another 6 minutes after that. It might actually have worked very well in an epic movie scene, like the Battle of Helmsdeep or something.

Man, the 90s were an optimistic time. This played in the 1995 Rugby World Cup final, when the Springboks won the world cup and prevented civil war in South Africa. I was reminded of it because one of the main members of Lady Smith Black Mambazo recently passed away. It gives me goosebumps to this day.
And it also reminded me that Johnny Clegg passed away not too long ago, so enjoy one of his songs, too.

I've watched almost all of Bong's filmography since, and every one of his films that I've seen has been great. If you haven't seen Okja or The Host I'd recommend both of those.

Like, listen to this song from season 1, which I would pretty much summarise as dread given musical form, and then as a contrast, the much more epic sound of season 4, afterwards. It fits the somber, hopeless tone of the show it was featured on perfectly, and it's absolutely beautiful just the same.

One of my favourite songs from my late teen years, especially while my parents were going through their divorce. It has a deceptively upbeat sound at first, but also some darker electro beats and a very melancholy guitar. Like all good moody teen anthems, it has exquisitely dark lyrics to accompany it at the end, too, but it's in Afrikaans, sadly.

At least that's the vibe I get from it. I didn't notice before that MGMT was also involved, though. Considering their later introspective turn with My Little Dark Age, I shouldn't be surprised, lol.

I couldn't find this song for the longest time, but it was well worth the effort because it has immense sentimental value to me. It was used at my primary school's farewell ceremony and no one knew what it was or who by. It was 2006, so we also weren't as connected to the internet back then, at least in South Africa. I swear there's a longer version that has a deeper, darker sound, but that might just be a faulty memory, or the speakers I first heard it on might have given it that effect.

On another tangent, I was just reminiscing about nostalgia, but in a slightly different way.
This song was included on a video on Youtube called THE INTERNET on April 4th, 1998 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyTPAN7uvoU) (since removed due to copyright claims, then reuploaded). I remember watching it about mid-morning at work on June 29th, 2012...it was one of those slow, casual Friday mornings where there wasn't much work to be done, so I spent the morning on Youtube and hanging out online, then later on some of us at work went to iHop for breakfast/lunch. At the end of the day I went home and my mom and I went to Chili's to have dinner, as we did every two weeks on payday. This was back before our relationship turned into...whatever it is today.
That's the time the big derecho hit, and we were without power for two weeks. Then after that I started struggling with health issues, the same ones that led me to find NationStates as a distraction from them, and from then on it's seemed to be one thing after another that's continued to this day. I think of that day as the last truly carefree day in my life, and listening to this song reminds me of the blissful carefree innocence I had before life kept happening.

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra does a lot of awesome television and movie themes, and this one is no different...it may be the best rendition of the Voyager theme that I've heard, and I like that they picked some of the old movie themes to play in with it as well.

This song played during the recently released 3rd episode of Ted Lasso's 3rd season. It's fucking cool. It's designed to let native English speakers listen to what English sounds like to people who don't understand it. It was also thematically fitting in the episode, but I don't want to spoil it since it's a show everyone should be watching, really, since it's incredibly wholesome and uplifting.

I've been trying to find this song ever since the rugby world cup's quarter finals, when a video was posted on TikTok showcasing France captain Dupont's reaction to their narrow and gut-wrenching defeat to the Boks, which knocked them out of their home world cup. That video used this in the background. It's just beautifully haunting.
EDIT: And I literally just realised this song that was used for the Boks on those TikTok videos, is from the same band. Goddamn, I have just become a massive M83 fan. One shows the depths of despair after a hard-fought defeat, and the other the utter elation after an unexpected victory.
