QUICK NEWS:
- The New Constitution was ratified on May 30th, 2015
- The first election under the Guild Electoral College was a success, with candidate Asylum/Island Union winning the Chancellor election with a 3-0 vote, and Equinox Hall of Fame candidate Hospitlar defeating new comer RGarrettGamer for the Speaker of the Senate with a 2-1 vote.
- RGarrettGamer went on to be named The Mafia's appointed Senator, while Captain Mordor was named the Guild of Doom's Senator. Senators for Scooby Gang, The Lords Guild and Industrialists are still waiting to be announced.
- Chancellor Asylum's selections for Secretary of Engagement, Equinomics and Lifestyle were all approved with a 2-0 vote from active Senators.

QUICK NEWS:
--Chancellor Asylum raised the guild requirements to have 3 Active Members, putting The Lords Guild & Industrialists on official warning of closure. At the last second, the Industrialist's leader; Supreme Leader returned and approved a pending member saving it from closure. Sadly, the historical Lords Guild was closed.
--Using recently returned Falconias' idea, Chancellor Asylum introduced a Probationary Period for new Guilds. Any guild can be created with just 1 member, and they must have 3 members by the end of a 14 day period. As such 3 new guilds were created. The Aurors, based off the Harry Potter universe. The Equinox Avengers, based off the Marvel characters. And lastly the Suicide Squad, based off the DC Comics characters. Each guild has until June 30th to gain the needed requirement of members.
--Historically speaking Equinox has not been one to Role Play, however under the guidance of Secretary of Lifestyle Ceapoyce, Role Play is slowly becoming a common activity in Equinox. Currently a war wages over an assassination, and a text adventure has kept popular, as well as the month of June's themed role play of Steampunk!
--Contests have been a mainstay as well. A Photo Caption contest was held and the winner received Steam's Weekly Bundle, and a nice chunk of Equins (Equinomics currency), as well as residents could participate in an Emoticontest for new emoticons on the boards!
--The Senate had a bit of activity has The Mafia's appointed Senator, RGarrettGamer lead the charge with 3 separate proposals about Amending the Electoral Guild College periods, to the Impeachment process. Chancellor Asylum also proposed the Arnhlem Treaty for the Senate's consideration. All proposals were met with a general approval of the Senate and were awaiting processing by the Speaker to be voted upon.
--Speaker of the Senate Hospitlar was forced to resign his position, to focus on his Guild of Doom, which brought about an emergency holding of the Guild Electoral College. With the polls opening on June 24th and closing on June 26th the new Speaker will be tasked with calling for votes on 4 different proposals.
--The Admin Team recently re-hauled the forum making it smaller and easier to navigate by eliminating unnecessary sub-forums and re-sizing of the forum banners to a smaller size in hopes of making it easier to find things and more new-member friendly. Also going smaller? The amount of account colors. Account colors are now only subjected to those who join guilds. Up until recently Residents, Admins, Moderators and foreign Ambassadors a special color to make them easier to identify.
--Chancellor Asylum and his cabinet are in the process of making a series of dispatches on NationStates to help educate and get nations more familiar with participating in Equinox. The general hope is that these will be completed by the end of the month.
--The Cabinet recently polled the region asking nations what they are looking for specifically on the Equinox forums, a large chunk of those voters are looking for more Online Gaming, Role Plays, and Activities to do.
--The Mafia recently created raiding military wing, named The Cronies, have been recently seen in founderless regions as Consigliere Talidania (known as Carnation in Equinox) lead them into battle with help from DEN and others.
--The Official Government and Staffing Records are now published, displaying any government or staff member since March of 2015.

NEWS FROM EQUINOX
--The Guild Probation Period was not a success, ending the short lives of The Equinox Avengers, The Aurors, and Suicide Squad.
--When Hospitlar resigned the Speaker of the Senate, RGarrettGamer and newcomer Spontaneous Lunacy both ran. RGarrettGamer won with 3 Guilds voting for him.
--When Speaker RGarrettGamer took over, he quickly presented 4 bills for Chancellor Asylum to sign. Equinox officially signed the Arnhelm Recruiting Treaty, The Voting and Debate Limits, the Impeachment Act, and the Electoral Reform Amendment. Debate was heated with a debate on the powers of the Speaker, after the Speaker edited legislation to his liking in regards to the Equinomics Budget for the term. Chancellor Asylum quickly vetoed the altered budget and then implemented it without the Senate's blessing.
--Mounting complaints of Speaker RGarrettGamer's conduct on the offsite forums and Skype, were brought forward by multiple high-standing Equinoxians to Chancellor Asylum. After filling in Founder Falconias of these, the decision to ban RGarrettGamer and his nations, North Gralend and Southern Gralend, from Equinox was announced. Met with a general approval of the residents on the forums, Equinox has already moved on.
--With the banning of Speaker RGarrettGamer, the Senate is now leaderless. This and the overall inactivity of the Senate has brought forth a discussion lead by Chancellor Asylum to amend the Constitution and dissolve the Senate, giving any powers it had to the Chancellor and the Guild Electoral College. The debate so far, seems to be leaning in favor of dissolving the legislative body of Equinox.
--Secretary of Equinomics yumyum36 approached the Chancellor in late June asking for a removal of office. Chancellor Asylum agreed, removing him from the position. Instead of appointing a new Secretary, the Chancellor absorbed the responsibility and set forth making the foundation of the regional economy.
--Equinomic's foundations have been laid, and several personal properties have been built, and several businesses have expanded such as the Admin Shoppe, and Ye Old Photo Shoppe owned by Ceapoyce.
--Delegate Asylum announced his resignation so he could help focus his efforts on the raiding military of The Mafia. A quick election was held with KevinWasserman winning a popular vote over residents Falconias, Ceapoyce and now banned RGarrettGamer.
--The Forum Staff grew, when Senior Admin Asylum announced the appointment of Equinox favorite, Captain Mordor, as a new Moderator.
--Secretary of Lifestyle Ceapoyce, aided by her assistant Captain Mordor and Chancellor Asylum, has been busy presenting quizzes, crossword puzzles, and new Pointless Polls of the Week, all with incentives of the Equins to aid growth in Equinomics.
--Happening Now; In Equinox, was launched to better aid residents to find activity on the board. 5 different sections are now displayed below the forum, helping them find something to do in The Senate, Equinomics, Lifestyle & Culture, World Assembly Affairs, and Announcements.
--Forum Staff announces new forum theme of "Touch the Sky"
--The Cabinet voted in two new members to the region's Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Griff, and Mekhet (better known in NS as Zaolot).

A change in The Mafia has paid off for its military, as any new member to The Mafia is now required to serve in it's raiding military. Any member of La Famiglia before the change is grandfathered in and can still opt-in only to the military. The Mafia to date has raided 136 regions, and has been on the battlefield with the likes of DEN, Funen, Lone Wolves United, and has been recently re-enforcing the Osiris raid in Founderless.
2. Guild of Doom
Leader: Ceapoyce, Members: 8
With Hall of Famer, and Leader Hospitlar attending to RL matters, Ceapoyce has taken over leadership of the Guild. Guild of Doom recently gained a new member to the Equinox Hall of Fame with Mekhet (Zaolot), and has been steadily active in the region's Lifestyle and Culture activities.
3. Industrialist (TIED)
Leader: Supreme Leader, Members: 3
After appointing himself as their Senator, Supreme Leader has been quiet. Luckily for them they have The Cat! Equinox's official Cat, Alunya has been the most active ambassador for the Ambassador Corps, arranging the embassies in the Feeders has been her mission and has been quite successful with her efforts.
3. Scooby Gang (TIED)
Leader: Wopruthien (PAGING WOP, PAGING WOP), Members: 3
Finally appointing yumyum36 as their Senator, Scooby Gang is still the most quiet guild. A jump start by an active Wopruthien would be nice. Maybe he can get some of his defender buddies to come and start up the Scooby Gang's military to rival the raiding Mafia? (If Wop is found, please return him, we miss him :( )

I'm sorry to hear about RGarnerGamer...it seems he was very active in Equinox, so it must suck that that it ended up that way. Not sure why someone would be so active if they were an asshat like that though...you'd think they'd just give up and go away if they didn't like people like that. :P

We have the Founder's Court, where Falconias serves as the Founder of Equinox. The Founder resolves disputes, law reviews, handles banning, etc.
He felt it best to just outright ban Garrett, without the chance of appeal due to the amounts of evidence against him.
The reason behind our Founder's Court system is to have a quicker system, and not have politics interfere. Equinox has always been more of a focus on our Lifestyle, culture and humor, rather than politics and debates. Its shown in our History as well, as we have had a Chief Justice/Court system before but it was one of much inactivity and never used much.

I feel differently in this case, it would have dragged it out, making it a more toxic environment for the region.
But I know from past experiences that I will not sway you from your opinion Gov, and you will not sway me from mine regarding this specific case :) So I think it would be best to just drop it :P
I wish the best of luck to Wintereath in deciding your Court System, can you post a link to where the debate is? I would like to watch from afar and see what you guys do!

I believe the ban is still in place, but I wasn't around whenever that happened. Let me dig around and see what is in our forum records. Ill let you know if we decide to over-turn it :)

Should I just give the standard, "Our community" answer? :P
I think Equinox's unique offer is our guild system.
Back in the day, 2008-2010, Equinox was home to the Axiom Guild, who's defender military Crusaders of Justice was very active and home to many defenders like Joshua for example. At that same time several guilds cycled in and out that actively raided.
These days we have The Mafia which is raiding, and we also have a guild planning a defending military.
What makes us unique is that we are a place where defenders, raiders, gameplayers, roleplayers, whatever, can come together and build a community and region that is home to all types of NS-players. In my long time in Nationstates, I haven't really seen a region house such a diverse player-base like Equinox has/had before.

That's a good point...there are a few regions that are genuinely welcoming to all alignments, including our own, but I can't think of any other region that can give someone of any alignment full R/D opportunities...we have the Skydande Vakt which is open to all Citizens, but it's mainly for public piling operations. It's kinda ironic, since I would venture that there are as many if not more imperialists as defenders in the region nowadays.
Does having people in different guilds that oppose each other on the battlefield create any sort of tension in the region? Also, I'm not sure if Equinox does treaties, but would treaties have any effect on guilds...I mean, such as a defensive pact or non-aggression pact?

Tensions not really. If anything its more of a competition, a friendly one at that too :)
Equinox is open to treaties, doing a joint festival, etc.
For military purposes the most I can see us doing, is saying that we recognize a legitimate government's power, and would commit our guild militaries if a situation occurred much like the Lazarus/NLO/NPO situation.
However, if a guild wants a treaty with a region they are free to negotiate with foreign powers, but any treaty a guild makes does not apply to the whole region and it's other guilds.

-- The Senate of Equinox was dissolved after a Constitutional Amendment was introduced and passed by the Senate with a 2-0 Vote. Inactivity had plagued the legislative body since it's birth, and the Amendment was quickly approved of by the guilds, with 3 out of 4 supporting. To be honest, that is something that I wouldn't know what would happen. I think we would cross that bridge if it happens. Which is why we rarely even flirt with the idea of region-to-region treaties, that include military clauses. We would rather our guilds forge those connections on their own.

When I was new to NS and President of Spiritus, I was led astray by people that claimed that a region needed to do this and that in order to be relevant and have people care about it, so I appreciate regions that are a bit off the beaten path. We seem to have our best relationships with those regions. :P

I've mellowed down a bit but the only reason I initially was banned was that Falc made personal attacks on my family while he was drunk and I called him out for it. he even was following and possibly harassing my sister on Facebook and banned me when i wouldn't tolerate it.

Both The Federation and The Romulans are bent on finding the truth, whether it's to expose The Romulans or save one's self, the deed has to be done. -- Equinox experience a brief lull over the holiday season. The holidays were greatly enjoyed here in Equinox, as we hope they were enjoyed by all of you!
-- Elections for the new term were held in January and we're very excited about our new cabinet! It was a tight race this term with two positions being won by a mere two vote margin! Newcomer Dr.Killjoy secured the position of Secretary of Engagement with an 8-6 vote against Cookiesurvival. Dr.Killjoy also ran for the position of Secretary of Lifestyle, but lost to BeoTheGreat in a 10-4 vote race. Former Secretary of Lifestyle Ceapoyce climbed the government ladder this term, winning the position of Chancellor by two votes over her opponent WA Delegate KevinWasserman; the final vote was 10-8.
-- The deadline for the nominations of residents to the Secretary of Equinomics passed before any viable nominees came forth, leaving the position vacant after the elections. It fell to the new Chancellor, Ceapoyce, to select a candidate. Long time citizen Boy101 was selected for the position, via Executive Order #007 (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10403646/1/#new), and is preforming admirably.
-- Asylum served as Chancellor for all of 2015, and in his most recent term he issued a grand total of six Executive Orders. The most expansive of which was Executive Order #005 (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10394047/1/#new) The order made several changes to Equinox's constitution, one of which was the addition of a new position entitled, Hierarch. The Hierarch's responsibilities are to ensure the region's survival and maintain the activity of the forums, the region, the Government, the guilds, and all of Equinox. Asylum secured the position himself, running unopposed in the recent election.
-- The changes to the constitution also included the addition of a Citizen's Council. The Citizen's Council allows all members of Equinox to engage in government through the proposal of new legislation and the sharing of ideas. Currently, the council is discussing a proposal for a mentorship program that would assign new members a mentor to help them acclimate to their entertaining new lives on the Equinox forums.
-- Each term the new cabinet convenes to select one member of the forum to enter the hallowed halls of The Hall of Fame. This terms selected member is Quinnicunx! A long time member, Quinn has made many notable contributions to Equinox. Most notably Quinncunx has rescued and redesigned Equinox's economic system several times, serving as Head of Equinomics on numerous occasions. Congratulations Quinn, we love you.
-- Due to a brief CTEing of our Founder, Falconias, a World Assembly Guardian Crew was created. The World Assembly Guardian Crew, comprised of veteran and established players only, actively seek out endorsements of Equinox WA Members. An endorsement cap for the region was also established, any citizen who is not the WA Delegate or part of the WA Guardian Crew may now receive no more than fifty endorsements.

-- Equinox hosted a medieval themed Grand Tourney in November, the event was well attended and considered a rousing success! Events included; a game of werewolves that came down to a standoff between a rouge vigilante and the bloodthirsty werewolf, a forum where anyone and everyone could alter another's posts entitled The Jester's Mods, hilarity and spam games in The Silver Shotglass Tavern, and The Grand Melee, in which participants utilized a system of fight mechanics and ruthless strategy to beat out opponents. Citizen Cookiesurvival claimed the win in the Grand Melee. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future!

Spearheaded by new Secretary of Lifestyle BeoTheGreat, the conference addressed many important issues and much progress was made. Currently the RP department is hosting an "easy to play" RP entitled; 1939-1945 (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10404762/1) the story is set in Nazi Germany and has already attracted several participants.
-- Contests and games continue to be a favorite in Equinox! Recently held contests and games included, a paper hand-turkey creation contest, a Christmas tree decorating contest, and a game of Driedel. Most contests included Steam games as prizes! -- The Guild of Doom is now hosting games of Cards Against Humanity, where forum members meet in an online version of the game to play and laugh together. The game is enjoyed by many in the region.

QUICK REGIONAL NEWS
-Equinox has had quite and exciting time since our last telegram went out in January! We hope your time has been spent joyously and I apologize ahead of time for the length this post might acquire. :)
-Our changes began with the launch of our fist ever Guild's Fair on January 27th, 2016. Equinox has long been known for its stance as a Guild Confederacy and, while the Guilds are still an integeral part of Equinoxian life, we felt it necessary to shake things up a bit. The Fair was a rousing success and was attended by members of several regions. We acquired three amazing new Guilds, which you'll see short tidbits from at the end of this telegram, and have since acquired a fourth.

-Time honored member Quinncunx was inducted into the Hall of Fame on January 19th and then became a Junior Admin on February 12th. He also served a brief stint as Chancellor of Equinox from March 9th until he officially announced his resignation and retirement from Nationstates on March 22nd. We adore Quinn and wish him a happy retirement. Secretary Ceapoyce then won the position in a landslide victory over citizen CookieSurvival on March 27th.
- Slimeria, an amazing member of Equinox during 2009 - 2011, was also inducted into the hall of fame recently! Silmeria served as Minister of Culture, twice, and as Senator, twice. She was a very successful and creative Minister of Culture. She was successful in creating a competitive nature between the guilds, in the Guild Point system.Very much as it sounds, it is kind of based off the Harry Potter Hogwart House Points. Guilds would do things to earn points, the guild with the most points won the competition. She is rumored to be the last member from 'old' Equinox to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

-Prior to Quinncunx's retirement, the government went through a massive shake-up. In the Chancelor's elections prior to the ones ending on March 9th, both potential candidates dropped out of the race a day before its end. Candidates cited regional apathy in their reasons for the protest and, with no viable Chancellor, a state of government emergency was declared on March 1st.
-Our ever calm and collected Hierarch, Asylum, dealt with the situation admirably. He kept our various government departments running smoothly as he proposed the dissolution of the Equinox Constitution and the implementing of our current Charter. The Charter is very simplified when compared to the old Constitution and was passed with a vast amount of popular support.
-After a quick rename (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10431062/1/) the Citizen's Assembly has had several debates regarding Equinox policy since the Charter came into effect. Elections (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10425500/) was a big debate as it really helped define the role of the Charter itself, and the Assembly debated if it was necessary to further define elections in Equinox, or if the Hierarch already held the power over them. The very popular Foreign Recruiting (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10426759/1/) bill was re-passed without an opposing vote. With in now in effect, Equinox will no longer hold diplomatic relations with any region that actively recruits from Equinox. And in a somewhat fitting act, the first proposal passed by the then Citizen's Council, The Guilds of Equinox (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10422049/1/), which passed and was signed by then Chancellor Quinncunx.
-Equinox has continued to grow and change by updating our offsite forums! Forums have new, fresher images and many are being re-named. Citizens may propose new names and then whichever names garner the most support are being put to a vote. Although some cherished areas have kept their names by popular vote. Such as BJ's Bar and Grill, home to our ever popular Spam Game section. The forum was quoted as being "The one little piece of Falc that never left us."-- Viisbyax
-Another new addition to Equinox was the return of NationStates families! Though Equinox has been home to the Corleone family for some time, a new family began with the Marriage of Chancellor Ceapoyce (Cea Cerulean) and Captain Mordor (Captain Angus Mordor). The wedding took place on February 10th in The Alliance of Queens (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Alliance_Of_Queens/index.php). Though both members are Equinox natives, they are active in the AoQ and found it to be a delightful wedding venue. They adopted Equinoxian citizen Approximate Psychosis as their son shortly thereafter.

-Continuing to move forward into the future Equinox has begun to move away from Skype for chatting with members and on to Discord! Discord, is a messaging service that is very much like Skype, without the lag and terrible desktop software, is free when compared to TeamSpeak (mobile applications), and is a modern service when compared to the old IRC Chat we never used.
-In more new and exciting news Equinox has officially signed The Shaded Swimming Pool Treaty with The Universal Allegiance (http://w11.zetaboards.com/Universal_Allegiance/index/)! We are very excited about this new venture in our regional friendship and hope to see many good things come of it.
-In step with all the changes taking place Equinox hosted The New Socks Festival. The festival centered around games that changed or made things new again. A popular hit was The Maze! (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10428404/1/) The Maze is a text based RPG style game in which participants are trapped in a daunting maze that continually changes. Having been such a big hit it was continued after the festival's closing and is still open for participation.
-Equinomics turned Academic, as new member and now Deputy Chancellor, Lower Coleland opened the doors to University of Equinox (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/forum/3865024/), and classes began! For a small equin sum, citizens could attend classes on Hippie Sciences, School of History, and Engineering Sciences. So far the University has seen a steady attendance, with high hopes of growing.
-In a stunning Heist, Director P of the Agency (Asylum), and his agents successfully stole the Head Hatter's (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10421664/1/) Hat! Continuing their streak against their rival guilds they sunk the battleship of Yarr! (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10422097/1/) and then took up refuge in the Agency's Blacksite: Red Room of Pain (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10422099/1/) for a final show down with their remaining guild rivals. Only for the Hat, to have been sold on the Black Market?! Only time will tell if the other guilds will seek out revenge!
-Our Embassy Row grew by 4 since our past update, and we are pleased to have welcomed representatives from Cynosure (http://www.nationstates.net/region=cynosure), The Communist Bloc (http://www.nationstates.net/region=the_communist_bloc), Vanet (http://www.nationstates.net/region=vanet), and Terrene (http://www.nationstates.net/region=terrene)! Farewell Address from Chancellor Ceapoyce
Greetings to all of you out there reading this EQT! For those of you who may not know me; I'm Cea, Equinox's craziest floofy raccoon loving citizen! This has been my third term as Chancellor, and as of right now I do not intend to run in this election. That being said, I want to thank each and every member of Equinox who has served in my cabinet as a Secretary, Deputy, or Special Adviser. Equinox is home to a plethora of diverse and wonderful people, each and every one of you has helped shape me into the leader I have become. I find myself thinking of when I first joined Equinox, I was only seeking a small community of people on the internet to talk to. I thought if perhaps I could get past my anxieties and talk to you all then maybe I'd be able to work up the courage to post in r/writingprompts. Who knew that instead I'd find a steady group of friends, advisers, and even family! (I never did work up the courage to post a story in r/writingprompts by the way.) I've never felt more at home somewhere than I do within the NationStates community, and for that I'd like to thank you all. Stay classy NationStates ;)

Summer Kickoff Pool Party
-- Equinox celebrated the signing of "The Shaded Swimming Pool Treaty" alongside The Universal Allegiance (http://w11.zetaboards.com/Universal_Allegiance/index/) in style. The celebration, entitled EQTV's Summer Kickoff Pool Party, boasted a myriad of games and contests! The event was very well attended by members of The Universal Allegiance as well as a few members of other regions. Participants tried to oust the Gary Busey in a game of Celebrity Werewolves, won neat prizes from random shots of liquor, sang karaoke, and enjoyed mingling by the pool. Equinox was thoroughly trounced in the regional trivia competition with The UA but managed to regain some of their lost dignity when The Hatter's Society claimed first prize in the Volleyball Tournament.

Imgur Influx, Equinox Breaks 1,000!
-- During the massive influx of new nations from Imgur, Equinox reached the momentous milestone of 1,000 nations on April 29th! Current Hierarch and long time member, Asylum, noted the event with a touching speech brimming with pride. "My goals back then for Equinox were to have a semi-active board and region that is a decent size of 100-300 nations," he said, speaking of Equinox's early 2015 revival. "Instead we now sit at 1,000 nations, and that is an outstanding accomplishment in NationStates." While not all of those nations stuck around, Equinox is still going strong as a region and as a community. Asylum encouraged the region to continue to grow and prosper in his speech, saying, "Do we still have work to do? Absolutely. But I am confident in the direct that Equinox is taking, and I cannot wait and see where we are 6 months from now."

Passed Laws
The Amendments Act was passed with a 3-0-1 Vote (For-Against-Abstain), which establishes Amendments to the Charter or passed law.
Banning of Delete on Sight Players Act was passed with a 10-0-0 Vote, bans any DOS player from the Equinox forums.
The Bill of Rights Act was passed with a 5-0-0 Vote, grants rights and protections to citizens, nations and players of Equinox.
The Citizenship and Census Act was passed with a 4-2-0 Vote, establishes requirements for citizenry and a yearly census of citizens.
The Criminal Code of the Hierarch's Court was passed with a 7-0-0 Vote, establishes sentences and lengths of punishment in the courts.
Embassy Row Act was passed 5-0-1 Vote, establishes the embassy policy of Equinox.
The Equinomics Act was passed 3-0-1 Vote, officially sets up Equinomics as a key function of Equinox.
Foreign Recruitment Act was passed 6-0-0, bans any formal relations with regions who actively recruit from anything but the Feeders and Sinkers of NationStates.
Guild Recruitment Restrictions Act was passed with a 6-1-0 Vote, limits the amount of posts a guild can advertise itself with on the NS RMB.
The Holiday Act was passed with a 8-0-0 Vote, establishes Founding Day, Revival Day and Doopmas as Equinox holidays!
The Militia Act was passed with a 5-2-0 Vote, grants the Hierarch or Chancellor to create a military to protect allied regions and fulfill military treaties.
Remove Role Play from Government Act was passed with a 5-1-0 Vote, bans mention of any Equinox Role Plays in Government Areas.
World Assembly Act was passed with a 2-1-0 Vote, establishes the Delegate elections and the Guardians.
Vetoed Proposals
The Sentences of the Hierarch's Court was vetoed and sent back to the Conclave for edits; it eventually was signed into law as the "The Criminal Code of the Hierarch's Court".
Amendment to the "Guilds of Equinox Act" was vetoed due to no compromising over key items; it has since been tabled by the proposer.
Royal Solstice College Renovation
-- Hierarch Asylum has taken on a personal project for Equinox by organizing the long-time standing "Royal Solstice College" which is a historical archive of all things Equinox. While it is already home to the Hall of Fame and the Telegram Vault (every single EQT, EWT, and EMT published), there will be additions such as historical regional flags, government and staff records, and possibly yearly summaries of Equinox. This is a massive project done in the background that will be completed in several months.
Equinox's Statement on Osiris
-- In an effort to get Equinox out on the world scale, Chancellor Ceapoyce issued a statement in regards to the Osiris situation where Cormac V Jesus Whale dominated the world news cycle.

This is the first statement that Equinox issued, and it will not the be the last as we strive to make our name, and our thoughts on a world scale.
Forum Staff Shakeup
-- On May 19th the Forum Staff said goodbye to one of its moderators. Katalina was officially replaced as a Global Moderator on the Equinox forums, replaced with former Jr. Admin Quinncunx. We wish Katalina well and hope she returns to full activity, but welcome and congratulate Quinn back to the staff!
Government Hirings & Dismissal
-- On May 30th, Hierarch Asylum offered the position of Deputy of the Conclave to Lower Coleland, who quickly accepted and moved on from being a Deputy for Chancellor Ceapoyce.
Chancellor Ceapoyce created the Secretary of Welcoming position and gave it to a promising new member, A Kaskadian. Since his appointment, the integration of new nations to Equinox has been quite successful with a much needed jump start to the region Mentor program. With this creation, Deputy of Government Welcoming Katalina was dismissed due to inactivity. A Kaskadian's appointment was also historical as it is the first time since 2011 that the Government of Equinox had a member from every guild in its ranks.
Chancellor Ceapoyce also saw fit to create a Special Adviser role for the returning Quinncunx, to add to Ceapoyce's wealth of experience in her cabinet.
Hall of Fame Addition
-- Asylum had the pleasure of announcing the latest addition to the Equinox Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Silmeria on her selection, who had an amazing career in Equinox from 2009 to 2011. We wish her continued success and happiness in her retirement from NationStates.
Executive Order #001; Creation of the Speaker
-- Chancellor Ceapoyce issued the first Executive Order under the current Charter of Equinox on May 23rd. EO #001 establishes the offices of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, which will now run the legislative body of Equinox, the Conclave.
This is a major step in giving more responsibility to the region and frees up more time for the Hierarch, who was previously running the Conclave.
The changes are now going into effect, and the Speaker will be elected alongside the upcoming elections for Chancellor.
Hierarch Asylum endorsed the Executive Order immediately after its issuing, voicing his own hand in making the Order and highlighting the efforts being made to grant more democratic control over the Conclave, which consists of any legal citizen of the region.

Equinox's Growing Role Plays
-- Your subordinate puts a big stack of folders on your desk. From all the flags on the first page you only recognize the central one, which is depicted as slightly larger than the other ones; it is of course the flag of Equinox. You look at the first page of the report.
EINS News Round-Up #001: Even though things seemed to have improved since the fiasco at the Palace of Littsvin and the resulting annexation of nearby country Brasilistan by the Littsvin Armed Forces, they have taken a turn to the worse in the last few weeks, when the State Council of Kaskada declared the Sun - celestial object and center of the solar system, occasionally known under the pseudonym "Sol" - a dangerous and wanted criminal.
The Scarlet Cross Assembly of the neighbouring Vyrtus did not take this declaration very well, resulting in armed conflicts on the Vyrtussian-Kaskadian border between Vyrtus and the nations encompassed by the Secret Police Alliance, notably Vneshniy Nebo, Kaskada and Lower Coleland.
After threats regarding orbital mass annihilation weapons, the conflict appears to have cooled down. Hersir Wulfstan (Vyrtus) and State Secretary Peters (Kaskada) were last seen shaking hands on the salt lake between their respective nations while reports of evil laughter emanating from Kaskada's Parliament in City One have quadrupled in the last few weeks.
Following the success of our comedy drama soap opera RP "As Equinox Turns", Equinoxian Secretary of RP Beo has been working on another short RP which will be introduced in the next few weeks. The current title of this new RP, which by the way will be canon in regards to our Nation RP as summarized above, is "As Equinox Burns". Expect explosions, one-liners, cliffhangers and doomsday devices.
Additionally, the Equinox Role Play Rewards are now a thing! RP on our forums and earn cute little animals that are even better than the Post Reward Pokémon you could already get!
Equinox Adopts Discord
-- Another thing worth mentioning is our Discord Channel (https://discord.gg/0rT3p0nco0Ox8wOr) which has really really lifted off since its introduction earlier this year and has replaced Skype as the official way of communication outside of our Forums. Old Faces Stop By

--Not long ago, legendary veterans of Equinox, such as ex-King Falconias, visited the forum. It was a pleasant surprise to see vets like Falconias, Silmeria, Mekhet (M'aeq), Griff, DYP (Drop Your Pants) and Kunin return to pay the region a visit. A lovely exchange occurred between the members, old and new, where they introduced themselves, updated each other on real life as well as NS life, and generally had some fun.
uDecide Equinox; Re-brands the Forums
--With the renewal of Equinox, it was decided we needed fresh new names and new banners too! uDecide Equinox, a series of threads where multiple names for different subforums were suggested and then voted on, fulfilled this. 'BJ's Bar and Grill', which is part of 'Equinox Lifestyle and Gaming', did not get a name change. 'Completely Irrelevant, Useless & Ridiculous Happenings', the spam section, also did not get a name change. 'Lifestyle Central', home to culture, activities, and minor events became 'The Plaza of Personality'. 'Everything Gaming', the gaming forum, became 'Game On!'. The 'Arena of Role Play', AKA the roleplay section, turned into 'Illusory Lane'. Finally, The 'Citizen's Assembly', the region-wide version of the World Assembly, was renamed to 'The Conclave'.

--To add a sense of friendly competition and rivalry between the guilds and give their members incentive to be active, the Guild Cup was created. The concept of the Guild Cup is that the staff and government award the guilds points for doing certain things (e.g. guild members posting in the spam section, discussing proposals in the Conclave, etc.) and whichever guild has the most points by the end of the term wins the Guild Cup! The Guild Cup winner receives several advantages the next term, such as receiving a tax exemption, the ability to sponsor a second PPoTW (Pointless Poll of The Week) and a cool trophy to display on their banner and in their headquarters! This term's Guild Cup winner was the Hatter's Society. Congrats, Hatters! Stay loony!

June began by watching the newly elected Chancellor, A Kaskadian, take the Oath of Office and begin work. A Kaskadian smacked down his opponent, No Confidence, in a blow-out vote of 23-2 (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10499743/1/)
Equinox Elects the First Speaker
Elected alongside A Kaskadian, was the newly created Speaker position. Klaus Mikaelson who defeated his opponent Lower Coleland and No Confidence in a nail bitter, decided by one vote (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10499744/1/), the final tally being 11-10-1.
Equinox Gets a New Delegate
The World Assembly Act, was amended right as the term began, and was quickly signed by the Chancellor. It created yearly elections for the Delegate position, instead of it being a life-long election. Incumbent KevinWasserman faced a challenger in former Chancellor Ceapoyce. The First Round of the elections ended in a 7-7-2 tie between Kevin, Cea and No Confidence. A few days were given for candidates to campaign before the second round of voting began and ended with Ceapoyce claiming victory (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10503203/1/) with a 11-7-2 Vote.
Electing the 2nd Speaker of Equinox
Shortly after the Delegate election was completed, Hierarch Asylum (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10514728/1/) dismissed Klaus Mikaelson from the Speaker position, due to inactivity. This vacancy triggered a new election for the Speaker position. Two new-comers ran for the position, with Hirvania winning the election (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10519379/1) over Destog, with a final vote of 10-0-5 (Hirvania-Destog-No Confidence),
Foreign Affair Relations
Eqinox is proud to have new (forum) embassy exchanges with the following regions; United Kingdom, The Allied States, and The North Pacific. Sadly, the following region's have had their embassy on the Equinox forums closed due to inactivity/being a barren wasteland; Ainur, Asgard, Auralia, Eieneti Gensokyo, Nohbdy, Sapientia, The Communist Bloc, Kingdom of Great Britain, and The South Pacific. These regions are always welcome to come back to re-open their now closed embassies.
Government Hiring and Losses
During the months of June and July, the Government had 2 people leave and 1 get hired on. Minister of Finance Boy101 resigned his position on July 12th (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10540439/1/), he cited the work he needed to do for the region he founded (The Universal Allegiance, a regional ally of Equinox) and lack of free time to devote to NationStates in general. Chancellor A Kaskadian announced the leave of Special Adviser Quinncunx in his Schedule for July (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10527701/), and also announced the hiring of Minister of the Interior, BeoTheGreat.
Executive Order #002
Chancellor A Kaskadian issued Executive Order #002 (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10508199/1/), where the government bought-out an inactive Equinomics business, The University of Equinox, and have turned into a institution ran by the Minister of the Interior, who could then appoint a Dean to run the school.
Conclave Update
- The Motion of Distrust Act; was passed by the Conclave and signed by the Chancellor. Allows citizens to recall elected officials
- Amendment to the Charter of Equinox; was passed by the Conclave, signed by the Chancellor, and ratified by the Guilds. Officially outlines the Speaker in the Charter, and adds fail-safe to remove the Hierarch if necessary.
- Revisions to the Criminal Code; was passed by the Conclave then vetoed by the Chancellor. After its return to the Conclave is was passed again and this time signed by the Chancellor.
- "LGBT" Regional Tag; Equinox participated in the "#LoveIsLove" NS Campaign, and the Conclave debated whether to keep the LGBT tag or not. While tags are not legally determined by the Conclave, the debate signaled the region's support of keeping the tag.
"Equexit?"
A Significant debate has been happening in the Conclave after the Hierarch asked the Conclave to debate revisiting "The Equinomics Act". The debate has now turned into a "Equexit" of sorts, do we keep our Economy? Or ditch it? Will each term the region publicly vote to Support or Suspend the Equinomics System. During this, the Chancellor issued a suspension of the economy until a resolution can be found and passed by the proper legal channels.
The Guild Cup So Far
The Guild Cup has returned, and the defending champions The Hatter's Society have lead the entire term with a significant lead. The latest update however significantly hammered down on inactive guilds, with massive subtractions to The Agency, The Secret Police and Yarr!. The current standings of The Guild Cup are; The Hatter's Society (481 pts), The Secret Police (164 pts), The Florists (154 pts), The Agency (95 pts) and Yarr! (4 pts).
Role Play Dominates Equinox
Role Play has become quite the cornerstone of Equinox as of recently. Several new role plays have started, including the most posted in and the most viewed ever in the history of Equinox, The Forest of Glim (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10497729/1), created by Terrabuena, the current Minister of the Illusory, aka Secretary of Role Play.

This Term's Hall of Fame Inductee
Each term the newly elected cabinet of Equinox selects a member or guild of the region to be inducted into our Hall of Fame. This term however, the candidate was selected by the people during our Birthday Bash! We'd like to congratulate the historic Axiom Guild on its admission to The Hall of Fame. The Axiom Guild created and maintained the first military of Equinox "The Crusaders of Justice" which established Equinox's name internationally. It was also the Guild with the most elected Chancellors (2008 to 2011).

Thank you for the updates! I found the article on the economy very interesting, because we have considered creating a regional economy in the past but have ran into some issues with planning out how any currency would be 'spent'. I'd be curious to know what problems Equinox ran into that led to the debate to keep or ditch the economy. :)

A Word From the New Chancellor Terrabuena
Greetings, fellow Nationstates regions! I am Terrabuena, the newest Chancellor of Equinox. I just wanted to introduce myself a bit to you, so that you know who is the new elected head of Equinox. I have been playing Nationstates for well over a year now, (if you really must know, 500 days to be exact!) and I plan to be around for many more to come!
This term as Chancellor presents me with the challenge of having to completely rework several things based off of referendum results within the portions of our forums that pertain to Equinomics and the guild system. Our guild rework is currently being tested out, and the Equinomics system is frozen for now, but we have got a discussion going and are hoping for the best!
Just wanted to say hi and to let you all know a bit about what's going on (unless this is a repeat of what was already said, in which case, I apologize for taking valuable seconds away from potential Archer time on Netflix) :P

Hello! The role play scene has seen a slight dip of activity as everyone was busy with their summer adventures, but now that the school season is upon us, it's time to rev it up again! WASSUP![/b]
WASSUP, or Wildly Active Sometimes Social Useful People, is Equinox's new and quirky way to volunteer for civil service! Volunteering efforts can be put towards being a Deputy (think secretary for a manager, where the manager is a member of the cabinet), being part of the Ambassador Corps, being part of the Festival Planning Committee, being part of the Telegram staff (those who work on this thing!), or being part of the World Assembly Guardians if one is a veteran player.
It is allowed to join as many as you would like, even all five of them, as long as you are productive and can manage it! The Guilds of Equinox[/b]
The Guilds of Equinox just went through major reform, for the first time since 2009, in fact. The major changes are:
- The Number of Guilds is determined by a Public Referendum Vote each term alongside elections for Chancellor and Speaker. The citizens of Equinox now vote on "Create" a 3rd/4th/5th Guild of Equinox, "Stall" the creation of a new guild, or "Disband" the 3rd/4th/5th Guild of Equinox. (No matter what, there will always be at least two Guilds.)
- Guilds shall be Reincarnated each term. Meaning, at the start of each term, the Guilds are wiped completely blank, and members are sorted out into the guilds for the first month. During that first month, the guilds are required to announce their Leader, Guild Internal Structures, Political Agenda and Overall Theme to the Hierarch and Chancellor.
- Each term the guilds will compete in The Guild Cup, a point system where at the end of term the winner earns various awards, but the main prize is Immunity. The winning guild is immune to Reincarnation, but still needs to announce a new Guild Leader and Political Agenda.
- One major change is that Ambassadors can now join our guild system! If you are a foreign ambassador assigned to Equinox, you are now allowed to join and participate in a guild! Come and try out our Guild System; Volunteer Here (http://s4.zetaboards.com/EquinoxNS/topic/10582540/2/)!
- The Guild Referendum Vote ended in "Create", meaning that Equinox currently has three guilds. Guild A, Guild B and Guild C are in the middle of the Customization Schedule now, and are all on track to completing guild customization by September 30th.

Equinox is pleased to welcome the regions of Arda En Estel, United Kingdom and The Kingdom of Great Britain, who all applied and were approved for Embassies on the Equinox Forums.

The Elections[/b]
Equinox says goodbye to the wonderful Chancellor A Kaskadian and extraordinary Speaker Hirvania, as well as the rest of the cabinet, as a new term begins. During the elections, Terrabuena and Remalandia both ran for Chancellor, and Idaina ran for Speaker. Terrabuena ultimately won by a landslide, becoming our 4th Chancellor under the Charter. Congratulations, Chancellor! Idaina also won over the No Confidence vote, becoming the 3rd Speaker under the Charter. Congratulations, Speaker! Chancellor Terrabuena has chosen Spontaneous Lunacy as Co-Superintendent of Culture and Communications, Ceapoyce as Co-Superintendent of Culture and Communications and World Assembly Delegate, and BeoTheGreat as Superintendent of the Interior. We look forward to an active and successful term!
The Equinomics Debate[/b]
Meanwhile, Equinox's economy, named Equinomics, has been frozen. Due to the resignation of Boy101 from the Department of Finance and a lack of activity, Equinomics has been put on ice until a solution is found. In the Chambers of the Conclave and outside of it, citizens are debating what can be done to save this vital part of Equinox. Currently, the most-liked proposal is a group of citizens, perhaps a civil service part of WASSUP (Wildly Active Sometimes Social Useful People), dedicated to running the Department of Finance.

As you all know, Equinox is the premier party region and we hope we've lived up to our reputation with our most recent event, The Harry Potter Extravaganza. During this event, participants were sorted into Houses, issued a wand, and tossed out into the magical mayhem of an Equinoxian party. The Quidditch pitch was packed with action and the festival was filled with discussions about our favorite wizarding world! If you missed out on this event, we hope to see you at the next one! The Nationstates Families of Equinox[/b]
There's been quite a stir in the familial houses of Equinox as of late. Some of you may remember our posting about the marriage of then-Chancellor Cea Cerulean and Captain Mordor. This reporter is sad to say that all is not well in paradise for this happy couple; at the very least, all is not exactly normal. Earlier this year, Mordor's sudden drop in activity led us all to believe Cea a widow; however, Mordor has recently returned to some semblance of activity as a shambling shade of half death. After a somewhat lengthy court case resulting in the untimely death of Nikolai Cerulean, Cea and Zombie Mordor are proud to announce the adoption of their twin sons BeoTheGreat and Tom_Smith!

In other familial news, there's a pair of newcomers in the Equinox scene: sisters Aynia and The Fox. So far, the pair have been quite an enjoyable addition to the Equinoxian family scene! Aynia has been an extremely helpful member of the WASSUP (Wildly Active Sometimes Social Useful People) festival committee and The Fox has been busily displaying her great culinary prowess as an extraordinary baker.
