Hey there everyone, Pengu here!
Now I know that many of you have taken part in Werewolf and have gotten a taste for the different styles that it can take. From roles to themes, it's a pretty open and neverending series that can always change and adapt to whatever the person hosting it wants to do with it.
This thread is to list potential theme ideas for future hosts. If you have a theme idea that you'd like to see in a future game (whether hosted by you or another person), please feel free to share them in here.
Themes based on Genre
*Standard Fantasy (dungeons, fairies, dragons, etc...)
*Standard Sci Fi (futuristic, robots, outer space, etc...)

And what is a werewolf game without the various roles that can take place? Here are the most common roles in Werewolf:
Villager - Villagers are the normal players that vote during the day, and have no special night powers.
Wolf - Wolves will pretend to be villagers during the day and vote alongside the rest. During the night, they'll choose a target to kill.
Defender - Defenders are villagers that will choose to protect someone during the night phase. During the day, they'll vote alongside the rest.
Seer - The seer is the eyes of the villagers. During each night, the seer will inquire about a player, and will be told that player's role.
Now, many a great game can be played with these main roles, and there's rarely been a game without a defender or a seer. But here's some roles that help spice things up a bit if you feel the common roles are a bit stale:
Elder - The elder has 2 lives. This role serves as the life energy for the power roles. If the Elder dies, then the Seer and Defender both lose the ability to use their powers. Some games allow the elder the option to scan or defend a player as well.
Assassin - Like the wolves, the Assassin will find someone to attack for up to 3 nights. The assassin will share the win with either team if they're still alive.
Gambler - The gambler is a tricky role in that it relies on pure luck for the other players. The Gambler is the role version of the Wheel of Penalties in which they'll have many different powers they can use during the night. The catch is that the power they can use will be decided by a dice rolled by the host. These powers can range from role reveal, to lynching if someone says the censored word, to giving someone an extra vote during the day, to many other possibilities.
Witch - During each night, she chooses one person and one word. If the person says that word during the day, they die. The word has to be 4 or more letters long, and cannot be "lynch," "Vote," the name of a role, or a person's name.
And these are just a few of the well known special roles. There are many others that can be included in the game. Know any roles that you'd want to see in a future game? Feel free to list them in here!
-
I will die by the hand of God to see a yu-gi-oh werewolf occur here...
Other than that I have always loved the gambler role and would love to see it in the game... It muddles up the other roles and makes the game more interesting to figure out... I kind of love it.
-
Saboteur - The Saboteurs love to cause chaos in a game of Werewolf, though they hold no claim to being good nor evil. Saboteurs come in many forms:
-The Negator: The Negator will use their power to stop the usage of powers for a night phase. Which powers depends on the usage of the role and who they choose to help. For some who use the Negator, they may choose to have them negate ALL powers for a set number of nights. For some others, they might limit it to one role per night. And for others, they may choose to have it be a gambling role to where the Negator has to choose someone by name and HOPE that person had a power (which they'll never know).
-The Blocker: The Blocker is someone that, at first glance, may seem like a good guy. This is because during each night, they'll choose someone to use their power of total defense on, much like how a defender will do it. The person chosen will be protected from any type of oncoming attack from Werewolf, Assassin, Negator, Witch, and whatnot. However, what this also means is that the person protected will also be shielded from scans by the Seer. If they're a good guy, that will be one player that the seer won't be able to contact until they scan when the player isn't protected. If they're a bad guy, this means the seer will not know until they're able to get a successful scan. The only person the Blocker cannot use their power on is themselves.
-The Bodyguard: The bodyguard is essentially the Blocker's day-phase brother. For a set number of day phases (or every day phase, depending on the host), the Bodyguard will choose someone at the very beginning who they will use their power one. The person chosen will be completely immune for the day phase, meaning people won't be able to vote for them for that day. The Bodyguard cannot use their power on themselves.
-The Thief: The Thief is another type of Saboteur, mimicking the Negator in a way. The Thief will have a set number of nights to where they may "kidnap" a specific role assigned to them. When that role is "kidnapped," their power is negated.

Given the amount of interest I've seen here for Game of Thrones, I think that could make for a very interesting basis of werewolf.
-
I'm not the biggest into GoT myself, so I wouldn't know anything about it for setting up an effective game. That's definitely an idea for anyone wanting to host a future game, though! I think taking part in a GoT Werewolf game could be fun.
-
I'm basically a walking GoT encyclopedia, though my werewolf experience will only begin with the current one.
-
I have an idea I've been thinking about the last few days...
Raiders vs Defenders
This would kind of simulate a peaceful founderless region with natives (villagers), defenders (uhr...defenders), and raiders (wolves). Depending on how many people joined, defenders and raiders would have roles such as spotters (seers), but there would also be a special role that would change hands throughout the game, the Delegate. ???
Each day, players would vote for Delegate along with who they want to lynch, and players would receive an amount of "influence" equal to the number of votes that they got. The delegate would be immune to attacks that night, and would have the opportunity to expend influence to eject or banject someone from the region the next day, if they have the influence to do so. Ejecting would prevent a player from doing being involved in the game during the next night and day, while banjecting would remove them entirely from the game. I'm thinking ejecting would cost 15% of influence everyone has in the game while banjecting would cost 30%, which would give more power to delegates voted in by higher margins or had consistently received a lot of votes throughout the game.
This is just an idea I had though. :)
-
That sounds very interesting, and I'd like to see that.
With activity in such a lull, I do believe that it would be best to resort to a casual game of werewolf. Perhaps it could even be set in Morrowind (in which case vampires) or Skyrim (in which case both werewolves and vampires would work). I hate Cyrodiil, but if someone wants it set there...
-
I love the idea of an EoS themed game, actually. I do agree that a casual style would be better given that we're in a lull right now. I think one could gauge it on the attendance in signups, though. Example being the last game had ideas for if the attendance was high, but could pull off casual if attendance was minimal/basic. I don't think more complex ideas should be discarded just yet since you might get lucky and get a game with 15-20 people if people from other regions flock in.
On a different note, it was brought up before by you in doing a game based on Clue, but I've been getting ideas for games based on other board games out there, such as Candy Land, Monopoly, and Life.

This looks pretty sweet as an idea but very technical. Figures like 15% and 30% of votes will be very difficult to do with figures like 10 or 11 players.
It did remind me of an existing forum mafia idea though, that of the Kingmaker setup. Basically on day 1 the host randomly chooses one villager (so a native) to be the Kingmaker. This player chooses the King (the equivalent of your Delegate), usually on the advice of other villagers (natives) at the start of the day. The King (Delegate) is the person who selects the execution (your banjection) for the day - votes from other players do not count at all, though it is expected that the King will listen to the villagers. After the King makes the choice for execution (banjection) the game goes to night and the Assassins (Raiders) get to choose a kill. The next day, if the Kingmaker is still alive, they get to choose the King again, and the cycle continues until all Assassins (Raiders) are dead or the Assassins win with the usual win condition. The King could be a villager or Assassin.
The significant differences between your idea and the existing setup I'm quoting are your ejection feature and your election feature.
For the ejection feature, I think such an idea would only be suitable for a much larger game than we're used to for it to have any effect. From what I've seen our day phases here are only 3 or 4 max. I'm not sure if under such circumstances the feature would be worth using for the Delegate. For the election, I think it would probably work if we removed the idea of the Kingmaker and instead have the King/Delegate be completely elected every day.
Another key difference is that in the setup I'm quoting, the only town power roles are Heroes. Heroes are admired by villagers (aren't Defenders admired by natives?) and if they're chosen to be executed by the King then the King himself dies. In our game, Defenders could similarly cause the Delegate to die if they're chosen for the banjection. Defenders should not have this immunity at night though, for obvious reasons.
I won't comment on the Influence feature... I'm not sure how you could implement that in a way that's easy to understand and fun to play with in the way you're suggesting. I'll try to think on it.
Sorry, I intended for this to be a much shorter post than it is now. My hope is that using some of the ideas in an existing setup will make your suggested game more enjoyable and playable.

Angels vs Demons
-
Thanks for the suggestions!
Like most themes, some of the ideas I have would have to be scaled down for games with lower players...for example, maybe delegates could eject but couldn't eject and ban, since that would make the game go VERY fast with few players. I imagine we would need at least 12 active players to make it work as I imagine it, to be split into 8 villagers, 2 wolves, and 2 defenders, with 1 wolf and 1 defender being seers. The percentages may need to be fixed as well...I wanted to make it so that delegates that had many votes voted in could utilize the eject and ban ability.
Alternatively, the people would vote for the Delegate and the delegate alone would determine who is lynched, presumably based on input since they would have to be reelected every day phase.
As an aside, defenders are far from admired, lol. Some believe that defenders are just as bad because by participating in R/D they're enabling defenders, and in some cases defender opportunism and failure to abide by their supposed morals have alienated people too.
-

What Mooty said. They're admired by other defenders to an extent, but that's really it. There's a reason the derogatory term "Fenda" exists (normally seen in the phrase "dirty fenda.") Both imperialists and (of course) raiders don't like them at all, and even some types of defenders can't stand other types. Example being, there are defenders that will help anyone being raided regardless of which regions they may be friends with, and those that are completely opportunistic or will only help those that follow in agreement with everything they go for, and won't help regions with allies they don't like...which obviously creates tension between those two groups specifically.
-
And that doesn't even include the personal politics and the influence of the 'elites'. Suffice to say there's are good reasons there aren't very many defenders outside of TITO these days.
-
I'm curious...it's been awhile, would someone like to take the mantle of "Organizer of Werewolf Games"?
-
What would that entail?
-
Organizing and running the Werewolf games...determining the theme, scheduling things, sending correspondence to players when needed, etc.
-
Also getting all the girls. Or boys if you swing that way and/or are female.
-
Oh, hell yeah. I'll do it for the bitches.
In all seriousness, I would like to host Who killed Chanku Kestar-- In Space, now.
-
Go for it, @Laurentus!
-
Wonderful! I look forward to getting this kickstarted again...let me know when you're ready to open invites so we can get the news sent out to everyone. :)
-
Yes! The Star Wars Wintreath theme will be the best! :D
You'll make it awesome, Laurentus!
-
Yay! Star Wars Wintreath Werewolf is becoming a reality!
-
For all you guys know, having Laurentus step up to host Star Wars Wintreath werewolf was my secret plan all along...
-
I hope I make it something that lives up to the hype.
-
I'm sure you will. If your last game is any clue, I'm sure it'll go just fine. :D
-
Some vides game themes:
- Mario(takes place either mushroom kingdom or bowser's castle)
- Town of Salem(just search up the game)
- Pokemon world(so many possibilities)
-
Some vides game themes:- Mario(takes place either mushroom kingdom or bowser's castle)
We actually did that one (http://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=2500.0) for the game just before this. It looked like a lot of fun :'(
-
It actually was quite a bit of fun. But don't worry, that won't be the only nintendo-themed Werewolf.
-
Didn't notice that you did a round on that, still the two other ideas suggested are good ones.
Also, I just thought of another game to do werewolf on, Until Dawn, it would have special conditions though. You would have the main characters(Sam, Mike, ect.) who all have special abilities, Josh, who tries to trick the main characters, Dr. Hill who can prevent Josh from doing what he does, the flamethrower guy who can kill wendigo, and the wendigo, otherwise the werewolfs of the game. If at least one main characters survives to a certain amount of turns(dawn) then they win.
-
Agreed. I added them to the list of possible theme ideas for future games.
And remember, if anyone ever wants to host any of the upcoming games, you're more than welcome. Anyone is allowed to take the reigns and host a game, provided that it doesn't clash with a currently running one. All you have to do is express interest and post in here (http://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=2203.0) that you'd like to give it a shot.
-
Btw Pengu, while Pokemon fits in the category you put it in since it is multimedia, Town of Salem is a video game.

Also, I forgot to mention. I actually ran this game both here and on 10KI. As fun as it was here, you should see how it went on 10KI. :PI even got to throw around a bunch of references, and listed em all on my first post:
http://10000islands.proboards.com/thread/30809/werewolf-super-mario-duck-hunt

Potato Inquisition! We must ROOT out the heretics or they will kill us all!
-
Are you volunteering to host such a game? :P
-

Perhappppps. If i learn how to play werewolf :D
-
Another video game theme:
Undertale(sans Ftw)

I have to say that amusingly I didn't consider this post when I wrote up the game for the voted scenario, but now I'm glad I came in here just to see that it was suggested. :))
And I added another Town of Salem for video games. Really, it works for both because while the name refers to a game, obviously Salem/The Witch trials has a vast amount of exposure in books and media as well.

Opposite Day
What could end up being possibly one of the most infuriating, yet quite entertaining themes? I present to you Werewolf: Opposite Day!
As the name suggests, this theme would be prevalent in many ways. Good roles are bad, bad roles are good, Leonardo Dicaprio gets an oscar, up is down and down is up in this game. But that's not all! Adding to the paranoia that is Werewolf, rules, dialogue, and even the plot would be in opposites!
You say you're not the bad guy? You're definitely the bad guy!
The seer scanned and he came back as a bad guy? The seer clearly didn't scan, and the person must be good!
You're voting to lynch Wintermoot? Wrong! You just voted to not lynch Wintermoot!
With Opposite Day, it's almost not guaranteed to not bring up the paranoia factor a bit. ;)
I think this would be great for April's game in light of April Fool's Day.
-
This theme idea was inspired by Warcraft III, and in particular by the first scenario of the Undead campaign, Trudging Through the Ashes. Basically, my goal with this idea was to nerf the baddies some...in my experience they win the majority of games because they know who all the other baddies (and by extension, the villagers) are from the start of the game, meaning they can team together immediately. In the version I've come up with, the baddies have to be discovered before they can collaborate, meaning that at least initially they're rudderless and could even inadvertently target each other...but do become more powerful as they find each other and collaborate as the game goes on.
The idea is mostly complete, but I wouldn't be opposed to adding to it as well.
The Story
Once the last bastion of humanity against the Orcs and the most prosperous kingdom in Azeroth, the Kingdom of Lordaeron has been ground into dust in matter of days by the might of the Undead Scourge. King Terenas, who ruled wisely for over seventy years, has been murdered by his own son (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGtbWA_FGMc), who has fallen to the corruption of the blade he carries (http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Frostmourne) and serves as the Lich King's Champion. It's armies have been decimated, the remaining resistance led by the Paladin brotherhood is being crushed, and the remaining villages that have not fallen to the undead are in a state of panic as death itself marches ever-closer.
Your village is one such village...thus far spared the worst, but living in fear. A rumour is spreading that the living servants of the Scourge, the Acolytes of the Cult of the Damned, have gone into hiding in your village, and that Prince Arthas himself, who has not been seen since he killed his father, is sneaking about the area to find and rally them. There's nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide against death itself. The only option is to fight back...find the acolytes and kill them before they can be rallied into a force that will rage through your village. Arthas must be slain as well...merely killing the acolytes will only delay the inevitable if he is allowed to build his forces elsewhere.
Player Roles
The Scourge:
Acolytes: The cultists of the Cult of the Damned, the acolytes are humans who have pledge to serve the Scourge and earn the right to be reborn into undeath, making them reviled by their fellow humans. The Cult scattered after their leader, Kel'Thuzad, was slain, but is now ready to be rallied and reassembled to serve the Scourge. Each night in the cover of darkness, the acolytes will use their magics to cast a vote on who to kill, but will not be able to collaborate with any other acolytes until they're discovered by Prince Arthas.
Prince Arthas: Once the noble Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas has fallen into darkness and now serves the Lich King of the Scourge as his champion and as a Death Knight. In addition to also voting on a villager to kill each night, he will have the following abilities:
Death Coil - Once during the game, Arthas may use this ability to slay one person in addition to the person that gets voted off, for a total of two kills in one night.
Death Pact - In the event that Arthas is attacked, he will draw life from all acolytes in the area to prevent his demise. This means that Arthas may not be killed until the acolytes have been cleared, although attacking him to invoke this ability will prevent him from using any other abilities that night (besides voting).
Investigate - This ability may be used once a night, if no other abilities are invoked, to determine if a player is an acolyte. If they are, they will be put in touch with Arthas and any other discovered acolytes and will be able to collaborate on who to vote for.
The Villagers:
Villagers: All the villagers wanted was peaceful days and jubilant evenings at the local tavern, but instead they got these undead wanting their bodies, and not in a good way! Having had the fear of death properly put in them, they want vengeance, and are ready to take it out on the Scourge...or anyone they think are the Scourge.
The Town Guard: With the Kingdom in shambles and most meaningful resistance destroyed, all that's left to defend small villages are the locals in the town guard. These footmen can use their defend ability to protect any player of their choosing, which will nullify any action from the Scourge they've been targeted with that night. Because their services are in very high demand, no villager may be defended on two consecutive nights. They may also choose to defend each other, but may not defend themselves...else the villagers start to believe them to be cowards.
The Paladin: Defenders of the weak and unfaltering enemies of the undead, the Brotherhood dispatched one of their own to investigate rumors of Cultists in the village and to help protect the villagers if there are. The Paladin has three abilities, and can choose to perform one action each night.
Holy Light: This ability can be used once during the game, and will protect all villagers from Scourge attacks during that night phase.
Divine Shield: This ability is available once, and will automatically be used if attacked by the Scourge during the night phase. If used, the Paladin will be unable to perform an action that night.
Investigate: "Investigate" (aka stalk) a player to determine whether they are a member of the Scourge.
-
You're volunteering to host this one as well, right? :))
-
I don't think I could fill your shoes, especially after this current Werewolf. :P
I don't even know if it's all that great...I just had an idea and ran with it.
-
I'll host your game Wintermoot! I really like wc3, maybe we could co-host? I don't think it would be awful to ALWAYS have a game of werewolf going.. I've had great fun with this one so far.
-
Well, I think we could probably use a short break after this one, but it would be nice to have games more often. It's an intriguing idea to co-host...how would that work? I mostly don't think I could craft story posts that detail what happened in a manner as great as Pengu. :P
Either way, at this point we should focus on making sure the idea is as great as possible in case something happens with it sometime...
-
I'd very much like us to have one in a medieval village sometime, where we hunt witches or something. I'd also like for it to be a completely IC one.
-
I could write the things! You could play the game, as some sort of omniscient god character that just wants the game to be interesting or something.. keep it from stagnating. Maybe you could have a power .. and the players have to pray to you for it, in PMs, and you grant a boon or something.. =p
-

I'd also like IC. I tried this last game but nobody else was so I gave up.. :P
-
The only character I can think of that would fit the bill and was around in that part of the game is Tichondrius, and I'm not sure the villagers would pray to a Dreadlord. :P
Still, I'll give it some thought...it's an intriguing idea...

Do it how Laurentus did it with his (though he was purely the host, I was just helping him set up his game :P). It doesn't have to be necessarily be two hosts in the thread, but you could collaborate together on ideas, how the story should go, and whatnot.
I've never actually been part of a game with actual co-hosts, but it's certainly possible.

Also, it could be in the point of view of the Orcs as well, didn't they have someone they always prayed to?
-
Actually could just be a role.. the host would relay pms (prayers) to a "god" character, who would have an enumerated list of things they could do.. for one of an enumerated list of prices. For example, the god could demand that the person vote a certain way or something, in exchange for divine protection. You'd have to limit the number of prayers that can be answered... maybe 1 per round.
Might just be confusing .. could be fun though.

Like I call being the Omniscient One ;)
-
In the case of an actual player being the god, they would be more like a mortal vessel, an avatar of that god. They aren't omniscient, and they don't have access to the powers they can grant to others themselves. They can also be killed.
They wouldn't even know who was praying to them.. ;)

A mortal god? Sounds a bit like an oxymoron to me... :P

A mortal vessel of a god. Like Jesus.

I have an idea I've been mulling over in my head.
What about a mob related one? One where the Wolves are not actually the bad guys? Bear with me here, lets say that the wolves and werewolf are Confidential Informants and Undercover Cops respectively. They dont kill, they arrest characters until none remain. The Villagers, or Wiseguys, are killing anyone they suspect by "lynching" them. And one person is the Don, he gets to automatically cause someone to be lynched three times. The Seer could be an Information Broker or Spy, the Lookouts will be.. well, Lookouts and the Negater will be a Rouge FBI Agent.
We could come up with Wiseguy names like, I dont know, Jimmy the Rat and act totally IC. What do all of you think?
-
Oh, you mean like "Mafia" aka the game Werewolf is actually based off of? :P
I'm just teasing. I like that rule set, actually. Sort of classic Mafia but with some twists.
-

There is a game called Mafia? I did not know that. Also, I just gotta say I am in a mafia mob right now after playing Life Of A Mobster. Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Godfather, I've got a mob bug.

Actually, Werewolf and Mafia are one and the same. Mafia is normally what the offline version of Werewolf is called. Which the concept is the same, though less open to creative interpretation:
Players sit around in a circle, the GM/host sitting in the middle or walking around. A seer is elected, as is a single wolf (sometimes 2). I can't recall if Defenders are actually in the offline game or not.
During the "day" phase, the players talk amongst themselves like a normal game of Werewolf, figuring out who the werewolves are. During the night phase, everyone has their heads down. When a role is called, the player(s) in that role open their eyes and choose their targets.
Outside of that, it plays the same. "killed" targets are taken out of the game, and it goes until either the wolves have killed everyone and equal the remaining players, or until the players successfully figure out the wolf...which in the original game's case, the roles would have different names.

I've had ideas for interesting Sonic the Hedgehog and Team Fortress 2-themed games. Not gonna mod any on here right now, but I'd be willing to after a few games
-
Once this current game concludes I would love to organize a mob themed werewolf game. If I may, of course.
-
Why not? :D
-
Majulah, Sapph ;)
-
I guess this will probably be the best thread to discuss this, is anyone planning to host the next werewolf game?
-
I would like to, but we should put it to a vote.
-
I believe @Evelynx would also like to.
-
There has been some interest in a couple of people.
@Evelynx was the first to express interest in hosting a Warcraft themed Werewolf, and then yourself in hosting a mob-themed game.
If Eve is still interested, she would be our next host since it's a first-come-first-served type of thing. If not, then you're more than welcome to jump at hosting the next game.
-
How about @Laurentus's Star Wars one?
-
I can host it. I just don't want to do it too soon after another Werewolf game, as people might be fatigued.
-
Actually, I think I was the first one to suggest a Warcraft theme. :P
-
If I may suggest, on the othe sites I play we have a game sign up thread where people can sign up for a game and a theme, and we just go down the list. That way, we know who called it first.
-
Actually, I think I was the first one to suggest a Warcraft theme. :P
You were, but I recall Eve wanting to host it, or you being co-hosts, or something. :P
And I actually almost forgot about the Star Wars one. XD
So the order would be:
*Laurentus if he's ready to host his game
*Eve/Wintermoot/Both depending on who is hosting the Warcraft game. :P
*North with his Mobster game.
^_^
I'm glad to see people are getting interested in wanting to host. :D
-

That's essentially what the Werewolf of Past, Present, and Future thread is for. People can sign up to host games, and their game is added to the list of Future/Upcoming games.
But outside of Laurentus hosting Werewolf IV, there's never been interest in hosting games until now.
-
Actually, I've also been hinting at wanting to host a Town of Salem (the game) themed round.
-
Hmm. How would people feel if I allowed someone else to host one then? I'm interested in seeing someone other than Pengu host it while I compete.
I do believe @aternox once displayed interest in hosting one too?
-
Likewise, I would welcome the break in hosting so that others can have a shot. I do love hosting games, don't get me wrong...but I do love taking part in others' games too. :P
-
Of course, if people find that their mouths are watering for the Star Wars one, then I'll host it immediately, if people want. :P
-
Maybe we should vote?
-
Let's do that.
-
So who is going to set up the voting?
-
Of course, if people find that their mouths are watering for the Star Wars one, then I'll host it immediately, if people want. :P
Answer: YEEAAAASSSSSSS!!! :D
-
Now, now. Let's vote on it. I guess I'll test my fancy new mod powers by opening the vote.
-
Instead of opening a new topic, I've just attached the poll to this one. Voting will last for 5 days.
-
I'd like to formally submit my candidacy. You will be entertained!
/me dances on the table
-
Arnt you already on the ballot?
-
Arnt you already on the ballot?
Yea but I didn't tell anyone to!
-
With 50% of the votes, the theme for our next Werewolf match is Star Wars.
-
Well then, I'll start the sign-ups soon.
-
Damn, I feel like Mike Huckabee in 08.
See you in Star wars!
-
You were in the lead for a good while, and then while I wasn't looking, I somehow gained 8 votes.
And I'm currently creating the sign-up thread.
-
Anywho here's my Werewolf idea.
It's based off of the base Mafia, with there being two warring Mafias instead of just one :P. Here are the power-roles that would be apart of the game, ideally (Note, I suggest having one cop and one insane cop)
- Citizen
- Mafia (A)
- Mafia (B)
- Doctor - Standard Protector Role.
- Cop - Every Night the cop shall be able to select a person and get a status report saying if the person is apart of one of the Mafias or a Citizen.
- Insane Cop - It's the same of the cop, however the results are reversed. Also when the person dies or is scanned by a person they come up as Cop. The person also doesn't know they are an insane cop.
Note that these are just suggested power-roles, and can be modified as wished :P
-
This sounds cool and I would like to participate in the next werewolf. Also how do i play?
-
Hmm, we really should get around to creating some sort of comprehensive guide to answer this very question. :P
Do you want to know how this game is played, or do you want to know how to take part?
-
how the game is played
-
This is the essence of it.

So I've been thinking about this for awhile...
(Possibly ASOIAF/GOT-themed) Double-Elimination Werewolf!
(The ASOIAF/Game of Thrones theme isn't necessary, but since I first conceived of it this way, I'll be describing it like this. And it's more of consolation match than double-elimination, but I like the word "double-elimination" better, so I'm going to use it.)
Basically, the first round is a typical game of Werewolf set in King's Landing, with different power roles and such. However, instead of killing, people are framed or found for their crimes and sent to the Wall, the second round.
At the Wall, the main enemy is the Others/White Walkers, with the secondary enemy of Free Folk/Wildlings. The Wall round begins once a certain number of people are dead (at least three, but maybe more). By making more "killer" power roles in King's Landing, we can make it so that, on average, the Wall round slowly grows as the King's Landing round fades.
Alternatively, such a game could be themed completely differently, where the second round is set in some sort of afterlife or similar.

Reading Werewolf:
Reading Werewolf is essentially the exact same game as we've all come to know and love, even going so far as to go back to the basics...or whatever theme everyone wants it to be (even a Choose your Own Werewolf type). The difference is that all the story would be in Vocaroo mode, with cutesy sound effects (IE the page turning sound like in Reading Rainbow) and vocalizing the text, rather than it being written...though the rules, bolded parts of who was lynched, and round descriptions (IE beginning of the next phase and time limit for each phase) would still be written out.
So in the end, it'd be Werewolf as if a story was being read to you. :D
-
Idk where you say this, but I'd be more than willing to run a game in the future if anyone wants to. As of now I've hosted three on other sites, all of which were themed.
Just wanted to throw that out there. I'm still trying to figure out how the behind the scenes stuff works with you guys here :P
-
So, should we set up voting for who hosts the next round?
-
So are we going to go forward with the next werewolf? :)
-
Who are the contenders for hosts at the moment?
-
It all depends on time... I'm going to be out of town next week and I'm not completely sure on my schedule for the next month... I'm going to get back Sunday, so if we start around then, I can probably make it...
-
I'd love to host one.
-
@Evelynx, are you still interested as well?
-
*reads*
I want to play.
-
@Evelynx, are you still interested as well?
I would, but this July is going to be ridiculously busy and I don't know if I could commit the necessary time for that month.
-
Well it looks like we can get one from @North this July and then one from @Evelynx in August or perhaps September? :)
Or are there even more people that would like to host?
-
I'd be interested in playing, but as I have almost no experience with Werewolf, no interest in hosting.
Game of Thrones/ASOIAF would be a fun theme, but I feel like someone's almost certainly already suggested it.
-
We have some player interest...that's always good. ^-^
I'm looking forward to seeing what we can put together, sooner or later. :)
-

It sounds like that may be the best idea. I was going to do a poll, but if Ras and Eve are unsure, then there's little point since they were the only other two expressing interest that I can recall at the moment, so it's all yours North!
When the next game starts, Eve or Ras if they aren't too busy will get priority for 9 in August/September if they're still interested...and then the other would get priority for 11.
However, I will be laying claim to 10, and will be hopefully running it in October to coincide with the two year anniversary of the first game, which began in October (technically signups started on the 29th, but the game itself started in October).
-
OK. Though since I am a new guy at hosting maybe someone should help me? Any takers?
-
Unless someone else wants to take the lead, I have no problems with helping out.
-

Ok, Thanks! :)
P.S I'm going to try and get signups us today, theme will be Mafia.
-
So, when it comes to who can host the next game, I will most likely be able to host a game once the summersend festival is over. (Although the timing for when each phase ends may be a bit different due to schedule reasons)
-
This is probably just my inner five-year old speaking, but we should definitely do a Western Gunslinger Tournament-type theme at some point.
If the word "cowboy" doesn't make you happy, then I'm sorry, but you are a sad little man/woman.
-
Considering that everyone I patrol with calls me cowboy, why not?
-
Potato Inquisition theme where the goal is to burn the heretics before they burn us...
Why do I want to host a werewolf game now?
-
@North, I just realised Blade Runner would be an excellent theme. Pretty much perfect, actually.
I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the movie, but still.

Yes.

I've decided to actually make a plot for my theoretical Werewolf theme because INSPIRATION:
The last pope, Spudacious XI is dead, and with his passing it comes time for a Conclave of all the Cardinals to decide the new pope! Locked in the Sistine Chapel until a new Pope is decided, the Cardinals prepare for many days of quiet contemplation and thought until, after the first day of fruitless voting, all wake up to the horror that Cardinal Luigi Di Canossa, considered by many to be the front-runner for being the next pope, is dead! Truly it would take an absolutely wicked heretic to soil this holy tradition! The next the day the Conclave meets, but on two issues, who is to be the next pope, and who are the heretics commiting these murders..
Townies=Cardinals:Well meaning members of the holy church with no special abilites
Wolves=Heretics:Those who have fallen prey to the evil of the world and wish to put themselves in charge of the holy church, they work to choose one person to kill each night so that one of them may be elected the next Pope.
Seer=The Head of the Holy Inqusition, who may each night, using his expertise with comfy chairs and other implements of torture, secretly ferry away one person to be interrogate(Perhaps throw in something interesting and not allow said person to take an action if they are interrogated?)
Defender:I'm at a loss for this one
Wookie(I remember this role from starwars but not the actual term for it):The Dean of the College of Cardinals, who may three times, call for a night of seclusion and fasting, canceling all actions for the night.
So! How is my little idea? XD
-
Defender:I'm at a loss for this one

Why did I not think of this? xD
-
So is the potato inquisition a thing we can look forward to?
-
So is the potato inquisition a thing we can look forward to?
I hope :D
-
I would love to do one based on the TV show Grimm. Where the Defender is a Blutbaden, and the seer is a Hexenbeast. The Villagers are Volga. The werewolves are the Grimms. I think it would be very very cool.
-
You did a Gotham themed werewolf. Another superhero/villain themed one might not be a bad idea.
Another interesting idea would be a war themed werewolf if that is possible in that the game takes place during some kind of war.
