Title: Zombie apocalypse, the story
Post by: tatte on October 30, 2014, 09:01:37 PM
Since we're not going to help the adorable albeit hungry droolers to victory in our region, what about a small fun forum game? Each participant writes up the next part of the story, expanding and/or advancing it in whatever way they see fit. Join in with your nation or as an individual. Be a goat if you like.

To make the story flow smoothly, I recommend reserving the next post before actually writing it. To do this, post a reply saying "Reserved" and then start immediately writing (editing) up the actual post. This way we can avoid overlapping replies. Feel free to write a lot or just a little. Everything counts.

Let us begin!

Day 0, first signs of new disease emerge. News of several people falling ill nearly simultaneously in different cities all around Kadonia shock Kadonian public. Victims of this viral illness have been reported to suddenly cough blood and within minutes lose their mind. Rumous state that persons that have fallen victim to this disease have even tried to bite other people. Health officials are insisting that the situation is under control and urge people to avoid panic.

While this currently unnamed new illness seems to be highly contagious, reports show that approximately 10% of those unlucky enough to have been in contact with the infected show no visible signs of infection, yet. Group of Kadonia's best doctors are currently examining both the corpses of the infected and coincidently all Kadonia's healthcare personnel, without using any protective gear.

In other news, all Kadonia's biggest airline companies are having a joint marketing campaign, -75% off of flights to other nations in Wintreath! Kadonians have never been more eager to fly. Even the outbreaks of this newly discovered viral illness isn't enought to slow down business. They even sell special Wintreath-tours: one week, seven countries!

Day 0.5, a few hours after the outbreak in Kadonia
As the Ardian minister of health speaks in public about the new disease, someone sneezes loudly in the crowd. Everyone looks around to see where it came from and sees a little boy, his eyes bleeding. Everyone goes crazy, some wanting to protect the boy as he's so young, some wanting to kill him to prevent spreading the disease.
Meanwhile, the minister of health runs quickly into the government building and calls up his counterpart in Kadonia. The phone call wasn't recorded by the Ardian minster, since he forgot to turn the recoding equipment on. The Kadonian did, however. The phonecall went as follows...

Day 0.5, Record of phonecall between Ardian minister of health and hysteric delivery boy who happened to pick up annoyingly ringing phone.

Delivery boy: Y-yes?
Ardian minister: This is the health minister of Ardio... why do you sound like a 14 year old boy? Is this the office of Kadonia's health office?
Delivery boy: Yes sir... madam... sir... I mean... yes this was, is, used to be...
Ardian minister: Who are you? Where is the minister?
Delivery boy: Soup, soup is here. Minister is not, no more, not alive, who's paying me? Are you making and order? I don't handle those, I just deliver soup, I don't handle those. Soup is good. You should...
*Delivery boy gets interrupted mid sentence by a loud bang, phone thumps into desk and gets soon picked up again*
Kadonian secretary: This the office of health minister, who am I speaking with?
Ardian minister: What's happening in there? Why are kids answering your phone? I'm the Ardian minister of health, I called to tell you that the disease has spread, it's here. Do you have a cure?
Kadonian secretary: There's no time for a cure. Listen, get a gun and leave while you still can. Head somewhere remote, that's what I'm doing. Stop for nobody.
*Phone gets hang up*

Day 0.5, Special breaking news
Kadonia's Observers and Logical Thinkers Association has released a statement claiming that even the symptomless carriers are contagions. Health officials have not released their official responce yet. Reports of outbreaks continue to come in from cities all around Kadonia, and now also from neighbouring nations.
