I had poofed for awhile.

Just saw a local MMA fight between a judo champ and a wrestler/kick-boxer (who was also the title-holder for the welterweights). Things were not looking good for the judoka, even on the ground, strangely enough. Then out of nowhere, he landed a devastating kick to the gut and followed it with a massive punch, sending the defending champ to ground and winning the fight. No one saw that coming. Just goes to show what assumptions can do to you. I would never have expected the challenger to do something like that when 1. he came from a judo background and 2. he was facing a kick-boxer. And it seems the defending champ didn't expect it either.

Sometimes those make the best fights.  It's always awesome when you see a fighter pull off something unexpected and take the challenger by surprise.

My wife wanted to enjoy the nice autumn weather today since this would be our last autumn in Indiana, so I decided that we could go hiking in the nearby state park. Naively, I thought that the trails would be well marked and have maps posted all over as the park is over 2 square miles large and is heavily forested with sharp cliffs, plus I live in a fucking first world country. Turns out I was wrong. We ended up getting semi-lost for a couple hours and backtracked a bunch, ending up having to follow the single winding road through the park to not take another wrong turn back to our car. Fuck that place. This is why I don't go out.

In other news, we went and saw the Accountant last night, and it was actually really good. I was expecting a vanilla action/drama, but there were some good twists and it was pretty funny at times, too. I wouldn't be surprised if it got nominated or even won an award or two. So I recommend it.
