  • The year is 129p, the planet Coralis. With the death of Emerald, the last of the noble line Swan, It stands that the Obsidian line has claim to the next Traveller slot. Though the six Swan descendants possess draconic ancestry, the adopted Obsidian children carry the potential of the greatest Travellers to have lived up until this point. With the Council being such a new creation, made up of precognitives that report directly to the Guardian at this time, they have arranged what they deem a fair trial to decide who should take up the mantle of the Traveller, as the Multiverse cannot exist without one for long.

In this Roleplay, there are three factions contending for the esteemed spot of the Traveller. Two have already been introduced. The six descendants of the Noble House of Swan, only one of which carries the familial magic, the adopted children of the Obsidian family, each of which possess a fragment of one of the purest travellers, and the naturalized parties. These people have no special abilities other than what the planet affords them, a basic ability to hop from one spot in time to another. Among the naturalized are a few alien species that have found haven’t on Coralis, the Quill family, and a somewhat grouchy AI.

Your characters belong to one of these factions. If you like playing as a younger person, I suggest you play as the child of one of the main contenders. If you enjoy more authoritative roles, the Council is a good place to be. I shall be playing the Guardian, a powerful entity that protects the people of Coralis and the power it possesses. This will also give me enough control to keep the plot moving.

The people of Coralis have the ability to sidestep through time and space, effectively teleporting them to any place they wish to be at the very time they first left. Children of the main houses also possess other abilities, which will only be revealed after characters have been created for them. This will be played across time and space, the only condition of this power being that one can never enter a space before their or another of their kind’s entry, and cannot move forward or backwards in their home space. Normal citizens cannot leave their home timestream, the Traveller being a notable exception.

    The Noble House of Swan:

The history of this house stretches back to Legend, the second Traveller to ever exist, and also a decently sized air dragon who assumed human form most of her life. She and her wife, Sam, a human mage, had only one child, Emerald. Emerald was conceived with the help of Xilex, a powerful dragon king who really isn’t important to this particular storyline. Legend and Sam also took in Fi, who later took on the family name Obsidian, after she was cast aside by their creator.

Before Sam left her version of Earth, she already had a son, Connor. After the death of his earthly father, the young scribe moved to Coralis with the permission of the Guardian. He is the father of the naturalised Quill family, directly related to the Swan family but not bearing the same status.

Emerald and Fi shared the Traveller role, something previously unheard of. From their shared role, it was determined that only four life forces could be tied to the timestream needed for a Traveller to run about without encountering the nasty consequences of jumping in and out of time, such as accelerated aging and even death.

Emerald and her husband were determined to have a child that preserved the family magic, and when none of the boys were showing signs of magic development, they were devastated. Finally, their youngest began displaying the family magic, and the two of them both agreed that six children was more than enough.

As the oldest surviving house, the Guardian promoted the house of swan to nobility upon establishment of a home planet.

    The Obsidians:

The Obsidians are not in any way related to their matriarch, Fi, as she had no interest in procreating. Instead during her time as Traveller, she stumbled across several orphaned children, some of the brightest minds she had ever seen, neglected and left to fend for themselves, and offered them a home with her. It wasn’t an easy existence for them with Fi moving about time and space most of the time, but they adapted. All of them went to their choice of school across the multiverse, and when they reached the age of majority on Coralis, Fi offered to give them a part of the Traveller heritage. Fi’s unique set of abilities allowed her to transfer not only her own power, but the power of the other Travellers created directly by their creator. Her children took the familial name of the power they possessed, Obsidian becoming more of a clan name than a family name.

Fi herself went missing at some point in the early 10s, and people presume that she is deceased based on the lifespan of others of her type.

    The naturalized:

This slot I am leaving mostly open save a few characters that are important in my mind.

The Quill family has done fairly well for themselves, being fairly influential outside of the nobility. Some of the children of this house are exhibiting signs of the same magic Sam possessed, the same magic the female of the Swan descendants possesses.

The AI, who will not be named in case someone wishes to play it, was companion to Emerald during her time as the Traveller.

Emerald’s husband and longtime companion, Miles, a wizened old alien with brilliant gold feathers. He prefers the life of the common folk, and though he presumably died five years back, he likes to haunt the planet in his bird form as he can’t stay as a humanoid for that long without dying and turning to ash again. He knows his time as a bird is short, he wants to see his children succeed.

    Technology:

The technology of Coralis is a jumbled mix of magic and tech. They have adapted several alien technologies, up to and including artificial gravity, to suit their own needs. They have terraformed massive parts of their planet with magic, and frequently use a mix of magic and technology to erect new structures in mere weeks.

There are no roads on Coralis, and doors are rather unheard of. Instead they have designated appearing areas in their houses, where people use their ability to slide through time and space to appear when needed. Any other transport for things too big to carry are conducted by skyport, a magical series of rings at can drop almost anything anywhere on the planet.

    Culture:

Everyone lives fairly close to each other as there are so few people living on Coralis at the moment, their entire colony totally near 100. Despite being so close together, they are rather reclusive and spend time enjoying the natural beauty of the planet.

They meet up for any council announcements, hold down regular jobs, and will even have parties once in a blue moon

    Terrain:

The planet is mostly grasslands, but many sites around the plant have waterfalls, rocky outcroppings, and dense fields of flowers. Forests are in the process of being planted, but the planet did not come with any.

    Extra:
This will be a roleplay packed with challenges, teamwork, and yes, conflict. People will be asked to play multiple characters if their main contender is not sent on a mission for one reason or another. It will be adventure style with elements of spydom, sabotage, and hopefully drama.

Okay. You made it this far. Now what?

You create a character, hopefully. Here’s a basic form, but you do not have to stick to this format:

Name (Leave last name blank if an Obsidian. It will be assigned with your abilities):
    Alignment:
    Occupation:
    Appearance (Picture or description):
    Family:
Applying to be the next Traveller? (Yes/No):
    Background:
    Personality:
    Skills (Non-magical):
    Other:

If you have questions, please feel free to ask! Everything is negotiable at this stage.

    Thank you for reading!
