Hello everyone! Its Crushita here, everyones favourite potato here to extol the virtues of Nukes! Well, not really, I do have a serious campaign. Enthusiasm for politics has never been a feature of Wintreath. If you want any sign of that look at me, I've been elected to the last 5 sessions of the Underhusen having proposed a single bill Wintermoot wrote in that entire time. Having been in all of these sessions I've come to one conclusion: The Underhusen no longer serves a purpose. In its current form anyway so little has been done that its almost no wonder what nobody cares about our elected politics!
Since the 17th Session we passed: The Seating Act for the 18th Underhusen(17th Underhusen, it should be noted that the 17th session did have plenty of debate however) The Covenant of Fellowship Between Wintreath and New Hyperion(18th Underhusen, this bill sat around forever before I finally proposed it.) The Community Citizenship Amendment Act(18th Underhusen, was repealed recently.) The Underhusen Seating Act for the 19th Undhusen(18th Underhusen) The Righteous Potatoe Resolution(19th Underhusen, has had no noticeable effect) The Seating Act for the 20th Underhusen(19th Underhusen) The Seating Act for the 21st Underhusen(20th Underhusen, it should be noted that trying to pass this act was the only activity of the entire session) and while this session has been far more active on the surface, with the Repeal of the Treaty of Friendship with Ainur, the Fundamental Laws Justice and Legislation Revision Act, the Statement of the Underhusen on the Events and Lazarus and the Citizenship Post Requirement Repeal act, the first is symbolic and the second was vetoed by the Overhusen, the third is symbolic and has been more of a headache for Wintermoot then anything even if its points are valid, only the fourth has had any real impact.
So what am I trying to get at through all of this? Taking away every Seating Act of the Underhusen the Underhusen has passed a grand total of 3 relevant bills, and one of them repeals the other! (The bills for the record are the Covenant of Fellowship, The Community Citizenship Amendment and the Citizenship Post Requirement Repeal) The rest are either useless, like the Righteous Potatoe Resolution, symbolic like the Repeal of the Treaty of Friendship with Ainur or self-regulating like every seating act ever. So this is my proposal, amending the fundamental laws to remove every mention of the Underhusen and Overhusen, resting all power in the Rikrsad and Monarchy. Why you ask? So that we can stop pretending that this body does much in the way of work. So we give the full power to run and regulate this region to the people who work tirelessly for it. Now, I don't think that we're beyond saving, but a drastic cultural change is needed and until that happens there is no point putting the time into maintaining this body.
In conclusion, the Underhusen has proven itself to be useless husk of a political institution that without drastic change does not look to serve a purpose to the people of this region. It needs either drastic change or, baring that, an end to its existence. That is the nuclear option, and I call it that for a reason because it should not be talked about lightly. But the Underhusen might just need it.
