Updates 2014.05.19
I added a link to the donation area on the forum index page that will allow you to view our region's finances. I believe it's a very serious thing when someone donates money...something that deserves honesty and transparency like this. The link will allow you to view donations given to the region as well as regional expenses from the time the region was founded, providing both honesty and transparency. :)
And yes, I've personally put in over $230 into the region, although donations have been a great help in the last few months. :P
The links kind of suck visually right now, but I've requested new graphics for both that link and the Donate button from the Civil Service...I hope we can glamorize that area soon!
Updates 2014.05.29
There is now a new section on the website for guides (http://wintreath.com/index.php?part=guides), which will replace the current guides forum when the current batch of recruitment stamps run out. Our recruitment message links to guides, so until stamps run out and we can edit the message, we will need to keep that forum in place.
And unlike the law page, admins can create and edit guides right out of the box. :P
During the course of creating this, I discovered an error I'd made with parsing the text on the law page in a way that could cause extra line breaks to appear under certain circumstances. This has been fixed.

It's meant mostly for real life issues/events.Nope. I was just curious [emoji1]
Was there a particular NS event you wanted to discuss though?
I'm looking at streamlining the roleplaying forums next. We have a lot of roleplays and potential roleplays, and it doesn't really make since to have a dedicated subforum for only 2-4 topics ever. I'm looking to merge them into one subforum, but in a way that each roleplay is still able to maintain multiple topics and still be organized. Anyone have any thoughts there?
Well the main problem I could see is that the whole forum would become quite cluttered and even overwhelming. There are a whole lot of threads in that forum, and that's the same with every RP forum on the internet basically. Instead of merging everything into one subforum, the threads could be divided into 3 or so different subs - one for active game threads, one for planning/sign-up threads, and another for proposing ideas and discussion. It'll still be pretty organised but streamlined as well.As a roleplayer, I am strongly against this idea. It would essentially make it more difficult for roleplayers. Having to go to one subforum to read up on the IC posts, then having to go to another subforum to read up on the applications to get to know better about your fellow roleplayers' characters and then going to another subforum to discuss and propose ideas. You get what I mean?
Might I suggest that we hold off on deciding a solution to this problem until after the inactive RP's have been deleted? I think once we see the current state of Wintreath RP, the needs of the community will be much clearer to discern.

Also, with the removal of the MENU from the top. How may we get to the forums when we're already logged in?^That
The wintreath.com is quite OUTDATED. X:
http://wintreath.com/ (http://wintreath.com/)
As you can see, the old part of the website before it was even the Wintreath website is finally gone! In the future, this page will allow you to keep track of just about anything that you can...you will be able to change your profile settings and options, keep track of your Civics assignments (ambassadorships, military stuff, mentorships), view lists of topics you have posted in, and more! It will tie in a lot of stuff that is currently scattered about the rest of the website.
For now, you can set your contacts using this page. You can also still continue to do this from your profile as well.
Speaking of contacts, I don't think I mentioned that you can now add your Steam username to your contacts. :)
More User Panel Stuffnever knew people use that feature in ZB actually
The remaining new profile controls have been moved to the new user panel. They can be found either by going to your profile and clicking the [update] link, or going to wintreath.com while you are logged in.
Additionally, I have added the first profile tool to the panel, Notes, which is a text box that you can put notes in and save. This is similar to the notepad in Zetaboard forum profiles, which many NS regions use. I may build upon this tool in the future, depending on demand, time, and priority.
1. Optimized Smart Banner
2. Added feature to auto-set forum api key.
3. Optimized in-app registration.
4. Enhanced push payload to support more rich information.
5. Added support for push notifications of new topics when users are subscribed to a forum.
6. Optimized display of quotes in short content previews.
7. Fixed a short content display issue in search results.
8. Support for submitting a report when closing a topic.
9. Added admin CP option: 'Disable Ads for Group'
10. Removed option 'Mobile Welcome Screen'.
11. Fixed an XSS issue on the welcome screen
What do you mean when you say not display fully?
And I see that the latest posts now list on wintreath.com. pretty neat!:o
Aww, the banner is no longer clickable. :PThis made me really sad when I noticed it. XD
It's been awhile in coming, but we finally have a mentions system! :D
The way that it works is that you tag someone with the @ symbol...for example, @Wintermoot. When you make the post, they will receive a PM (and an email if they've opted to get emails when they're PMed) and the mention will be listed on the news feed page (wintreath.com if you're logged in). I hope this will make it easier to notify people that their attention is needed on the forums, especially for RPGs and forum games. :)

@Weissreich @Wintermoot @Pengu @Govindia @Reon
Some Fixes and Changesyay!
1) Spoiler, quotes, and code tags should appear correctly on the news feed.
2) Members get a notice in their notices sidebar if someone likes or dislikes one of their posts.
3) The notices sidebar now uses member's current names instead of the ones they registered with.
4) You should not longer receive a notice for PMs announcing you have a mention (mentions have their own notices)
5) The Paypal button on the donation page has been changed from 'Donate' to 'Buy Now', due to some ambiguity over whether non-charities can use the donate button. Otherwise works the same way, with you putting in how much you want to contribute on Paypal's page.
PMs in News Feed Sidebar, Part II
I didn't like that PM notices disappeared when you read them...you may want to keep the notice to remind you to reply later on, for example, so I made it like mentions to where PM notices must be dismissed to disappear. This seems like a small change, but it required significant changes to the backend to make it work. As an aside, automated PMs, such as the ones sent by the notifications system, should not appear as notices.
Also, restored the red message stating when you had unread PMs.
Someone looked for the recruiter link?I fucking told you that people would be upset it was missing! Didn't I say!
:P
I don't remember you saying that at all, actually. :PYou do! Liar!
In honour of our festival, I will be adding new emoticons throughout the festival! The first one is a nice wave...what a wonderful way to welcome someone to the festival and to the region. :)

Or maybe it's a happy goodbye? O:-)
I think what Sapph means is making the RP Guild a proper division of the forum, like the Civil Service, and then having the RPer's Gathering as a sub-forum of the RP Guild.Perhaps the RP Guild could directly supplant the RPer's Gathering?
But I have another idea. I think it might be more organised to have a sub-forum for every individual RP, within the greater RP Guild. I don't anticipate people coming up with as many RPs in the future as they're coming up with now.
Last post button? There's a button to go to the last post posted. It looks like a piece of paper with an arrow on it.
I'm afraid it's the latter if you're referring to the Modify button next to Quote. :POr he might be referring to the fact that there's also a Modify button at the bottom right of your post, above your signature. That's always been there, as far as I remember.

I don't see any of the buttons we've been talking about. Conspiracy! No edits for you! :P

I should probably bring this to your attention, @Wintermoot. I've been exploiting it to death, but still. :P
Once a topic is closed, or it's part of an area of the forum (for example the UH and OH) that a normal unmasked citizen can see, but not post in, I assume there's a reason why such a citizen can't like or dislike posts on the page directly?
Well, those posts can still be liked and disliked through the news feed. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but I thought I should bring it up.
Oh, shit. Would you look at that. For some reason the thumbs-up and thumbs-down button are right on top of each other on my phone, though. Like, they cross into each other.Oh, so like it doesn't render properly on your phone's browser?

For some topics it does that. For some they're vertically across from each other with the like/dislike number on top of them, and for others they're vertically across each other with the like/dislike number next to them.
I don't really know why each thread/post is different. ???

I clicked the link: it reads "halls of inquisition". Something that only Storting members are supposed to access. I never technically took the standing away. Before Gerrick posted his debate thread, I considered opening up access to all of the UH candidates.

That's what I meant.
During trial times, it's open to the public I believe, but otherwise it's hidden to everyone that isn't a part of the storting or has a standing invitation.
It's sort of like how the Riksrad has their own discussion area.
I have access to the Halls of the Inquisition and the specific case in question. Is only the UH supposed to have it, or do the people who served as judges also have some sort of permanent standing?
Just thought I'd make a note that sometimes editing your signature through the New CP causes a complete loss of everything you've entered, even when you're not directly editing your signature and are just changing other values on that page. Not sure if it's been mentioned before :)
Let me rephrase Weissreich's statement:Just thought I'd make a note that sometimes editing your signature through the New CP causes a complete loss of everything you've entered, even when you're not directly editing your signature and are just changing other values on that page. Not sure if it's been mentioned before :)
Bold mine...I'm not sure I understand, cause it sounds like a contradiction. :P
It sounds like it's probably an issue with non-ASCII characters...the database doesn't tend to like them. I'll have to look it up in more detail though. Why does it work with the Old CP then?
I have fixed the issue with signatures, which is due to changes in encoding standards and the default functionality in one of the PHP functions that handle form input.Tested, still doesn't work. :(
When the Wintreath website was created back in 2013, the standard was still to set encoding to ISO-8859-1, which at the relevant functions in PHP, such as the one that handles our form input, utilized by default. However, since then that standard has changed to UTF-8, and in an update of PHP some time ago that default behaviour was changed to utilize that standard instead, which meant the form was being sent in a different encoding than was expected. I'm not horribly familiar with encoding issues, but apparently since ASCII characters are encoded pretty much the same, this mismatch would only make itself known with non-ASCII characters.
After doing some research, I overrode the default behaviour and changed it back to ISO-8859-1. The forums still use this standard, and from what I've read updating the forums at this point would be a bigger pain in the ass than it's worth. Obviously, the forums need to be in sync with what the website uses, or else you'd run into problems if you tried using BOTH the new and old CP.
I'm testing it and I don't see a problem with characters that were a problem before...Accented é. Take a look at my signature if you want more details.
What exact character are you using?
I'm able to include accented é in my signature from the new user CP without the signature disappearing.Ah, works now! Thanks!
Have you tried clearing out your browser cache?
So I noticed this when trying to add Sméagol onto my user title...but the adding of accented characters completely erases the entire title when it saves. So the signature fix only fixed that and nothing else?
Apparently so. :PAnd when @Wintermoot finally fixes this, he's going to randomly insert an accented e into his title just to mess with us...
At first I thought it was just randomly doing it for some reason, but nope. Every time I put in that accented E and saved, it would change it and then appear with a blank title.
Apparently so. :PToo bad, Pengu. You would have made an excellent Sméagollum!! :P

Something I've noticed recently - when you make a post and tag someone in it, then go back to correct a typo in the tag or add a new tag, you get a database error telling you the value doesn't exist. However! It will work through the use of {MEMBER=X}UserName{/MEMBER} tags, so I can only assume it's something to do with the auto-tagging feature using the @ symbol :)

:)
While I certainly don't know the entire logistics, I think it would be theoretically possible. HOWEVER it would require splitting words at a certain point. The reason why it does that is because, from what I can tell, the software checks for spaces when determining alignment, as such if there is no space it can not determine how to split it, so it simply doesn't. This leads to the page being stretched out, and also leads to the alignment for spaced-words being screwed up because it has a bit more space for them now...
Ultimately I'm not sure how doable it would be though.
@Wintermoot why is the Old User CP called the Old User CP if it has so many important features?Just because something's old doesn't mean it's not important, tau! ;)
I mean, "Advanced CP" might make sense, but "OLD" (especially since it's in all caps) seems to imply that it's obsolete...@Wintermoot why is the Old User CP called the Old User CP if it has so many important features?Just because something's old doesn't mean it's not important, tau! ;)
(I'm only joking, I had the same question, too!! :P )
It's a holdover from when the new profile layout came online. Instead of just deleting it, Mootles pretty much left it so that if people preferred they could use the old one, with more features but slightly longer to navigate, or the new, that had all the main features on one page but lacked some customisation options :)I think he can't really remove it, since there are actually important features in the Old User CP that aren't anywhere else (for example, date/time settings).
Or he never got round to removing it haha
Improved Recruitment Filtering
Thanks to [violet] implementing my suggestion for the NationStates API to show whether a user has blocked recruitment telegrams (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=376206#p28553160), the recruitment page now filters out nations that have done so. According to my initial observations, this should remove upwards of 20 to 30 percent of nations that would have otherwise been on the page...nations that it would have been a waste of time to recruit to.
I am appreciative of [violet] implementing my suggestion. It should save manual and API recruiters here and everywhere a good bit of time going into the future. :)
Why was the Frostmist Arena abolished in the first place, again? :P
Alright. I've also noticed that there is also some alignment issues that occur on EVERY profile which is shown below:@WintermootSpoiler(https://wintreath.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F1bcAULP.png&hash=52ce27f94a04e6f5132b775ed99ea3c3)
If you look at the contact area the things aren't completely aligned that well.
Fixed...also I think I fixed the issue @taulover posted about.Thank you!
You have to use wintreath.com for it to work...using www.wintreath.com will cause it not to show anything.Could you change the link on the top left to wintreath.com instead? That might help.
To be honest, I haven't done anything to fix it because I'm thinking of changing the sidebar content. I'm not sure if we need a shoutbox or the government listing on the front page...maybe the latest topics or posts would be more relevant?
Try the thingy again now. :PI was having the same zoom problem on mobile this morning, but it appears to be fixed now. :)
Done. The new color is so much nicer.
I will refer the logo recommendation to @HannahB, since it's her graphic. :)
Thanks, but I'm still working on it. :PBy the first "that" I meant the notifications menu. I generally see notifications to the left of the settings/profile/logout menu on most websites.
I'm not sure what you mean...what is that (move that) and what is that (keep that)?
I got freaked the fuck out by the sound from the notifications. I didn't know what was happening.
Weird. I feel like testing this a bit, so yeah.Don't know if this is a new bug (because of the new embedded video system?) or if it's been here before.
:)
:)
Yeah so emoticons can't appear after a video in a post? :)
Quoting from the Dumping Grounds:Weird. I feel like testing this a bit, so yeah.Don't know if this is a new bug (because of the new embedded video system?) or if it's been here before.

Just letting you know that it shows up in the newsfeed but not here. :D
Alrighty, it's working properly on Firefox now.
And maybe I like the attention. :P For all you know, this was a well thought out scheme to get either one. :P
Question: why is this topic called UPDATES: Current Updates?
Yeah, isn't that a bit redundant?Because we were using a topic tagging system in the technical forum when this topic was created.
I've noticed that the karma count doesn't have commas like the post count does.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Should be fixed. :)Now my random mobile browser (Dolphin) won't clear the menu. :( (Don't worry about fixing it, it's too minor of an issue for you to worry about.)
What do you mean by clear? The menu doesn't turn from orange back to transparent on that browser when I click on it.
That's odd...everything that I did was on the backend. It shouldn't have changed anything browser-specific.Working now. No idea why it didn't work the other day.
I notice that the mention PM text appears to have changed. Any reason for that?Is there any way to disable the PM notification for being quoted? I mean, it's a pretty nice feature, but I can see it getting annoying very quick, especially if you end up in a quote chain or something.
@Wintermoot, how would I go about linking to the newest parts of some topics, if I wanted to include them in my signature? I want to link to all the topics in my new RP, to save everyone some scrolling.I'm honestly not sure...the easiest thing to do might be to link to the RP forum, where they could click the new link for each topic.
Is there any way to disable the PM notification for being quoted? I mean, it's a pretty nice feature, but I can see it getting annoying very quick, especially if you end up in a quote chain or something. There is no way to opt-out from PM notifications at the moment, but there probably will be in the future along with other options such as notification by mobile text message.
Would it be possible to get the "Reply to All" button duplicated at the top of PMs? It's pretty annoying having to scroll down to get to that button, especially as group PM chains get really long.Possibly at some point...I've never really looked at the PM stuff, to be honest. It's something I'll have to do in the future.
You're also able to see people's negative karma when they PM you and whenever the "person quoted you" message appears. It isn't a bother, but if you're looking around that area it might be good to remove -- considering why negative karma no longer exists.Would it be possible to get the "Reply to All" button duplicated at the top of PMs? Find the place where you pointed it out, or the spot where you can see the karma?
Notifications UpdateActually, nope, doesn't look nice. Now I'm not receiving any email notifications at all, despite having the options checked. (Yes, I checked my spamboxes.)
The ability to turn on and off PM or Email notifications has been added to your account options (Your Menu->Edit Profile->Options). This effects notifications for being quoted, mentioned, or PMed...at the moment, you are only notified via the notifications menu on the site when something you post is liked. Also, even if you have PM notifications on, you will not receive a PM notification when you get a PM, since that would be rather...redundant. The red bar will also still pop up at the top of the page if you have unread PMs.
Are you receiving PM notifications?Yes. I'm not getting any email notifications for them, though (including for regular PMs).
What about now, @taulover?So yeah, I'm still not getting email notifications for PM's anymore.
The database value you're trying to insert does not exist: notice_textBut it posts anyway.
Also, whenever I try to mention or quote @Wintermoot, I get this error:Wow, a triple-post. You must really be hurting, @taulover. :PQuoteThe database value you're trying to insert does not exist: notice_textBut it posts anyway.
Ninja edit: yep, still happening. Doesn't happen for mentioning/quoting anyone else.

My suggestion (that I thought up of some time back, it's probably a shitty idea and wouldn't work very well):It's a bit more complicated than that because notifications are triggered by different scripts...for example, quoting a post triggers the notification system, which triggers a PM, which triggers the notification system again. All you can do at that point is tell it not to trigger the notification system again based on something related to the PM that's being sent.
if (notifyPM=true AND notifyEmail=true) send PM notification only, which will then be converted to email by the existing system

What I mean is if you just base it on if whether email and PM notifications are on, then you'd block email notifications of all PMs...the call to send a PM/email from the notification system is the same as sending them through any other part of the forum.Still getting two emails. My suggestion (that I thought up of some time back, it's probably a shitty idea and wouldn't work very well):It's a bit more complicated than that because notifications are triggered by different scripts...for example, quoting a post triggers the notification system, which triggers a PM, which triggers the notification system again. The standalone email is related to the PM system? As in, the notification system can't send the PM without also sending that non-PM email?
Yeah I think that's what I was trying to say, maybe I didn't convey it clearly. All you can do at that point is tell it not to trigger the notification system again based on something related to the PM that's being sent.
if (notifyPM=true AND notifyEmail=true) send PM notification only, which will then be converted to email by the existing system

So basically I'm trying to base it off the contents of the notification PM...if the PM is this and email notification is on, don't send the email notification.
Excellent! :DActually I just got the second email notification... It was just delayed a bit. :(
Also, whenever I try to mention or quote @Wintermoot, I get this error:QuoteThe database value you're trying to insert does not exist: notice_textBut it posts anyway.
Ninja edit: yep, still happening. Doesn't happen for mentioning/quoting anyone else.
Actually I just got the second email notification... It was just delayed a bit. :(I removed a section relating to buddies...it's a bit of a long-shot, but meh.
Edit: This seems to be happening again too (it didn't happen for quite a while, did you fix it and break it again?):

I don't know why...but the site is suddenly having immense loading issues on my laptop. It'll load half the page, and then it'll take forever to load the rest.
On my phone it's not an issue though...and since normally use the wifi on my phone (and other pages load normally) I don't see why it'd be a conmection issue on my end.
I took another stab at fixing the multiple email notifications issue, but who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Is it fixed?
Is it fixed?I do indeed have them disabled. :P
(Or if you have email notifications disabled, could you mention/quote me?)
Looks like it is in fact working! :D Thanks! Is it fixed?I do indeed have them disabled. :P

I can no longer find the recruitment tool. Perhaps we can add a link to it in the "NationStates" drop-down list at the top of the page? It's reachable from the recruitment guide, but yeah, not that accessible.
Does this mean that someone other than me is going to recruit? :PHey, I used to recruit! I was going for the position of head of the recruitment guild until HannahB barely beat me in recruitment that month. Then I created the Arena and was made Jarl of Culture and got busy with all of that.
Does this mean that someone other than me is going to recruit? :PI will, at least a little.
I'd use the Text of the Call (http://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=3123.0) as it's a bit newer. I added the updated version I created and use at the bottom of the thread.Does this mean that someone other than me is going to recruit? :PI will, at least a little.
What should I change the bottom of the standard template (http://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=2886.msg47697#msg47697) to so that it doesn't sound like I'm the monarch?

I'll look into your suggestions for the future...are you wanting like an image upload to store your flag? A profile field? Something that gets the flag from NS?Ideally an image upload, but if you don't want to stretch your resources too thin, even the option to link the flag from an external site would do the job just fine. Automatically fetching the flag from NS would defeat the purpose, since NS deletes your flag when your nation ceases to exist, and this my goal here is an easy backup to restore the flag.
There haven't been any coding changes lately...it must either be your computer, browser, or imagination.Yeah ok, for some reason the profile box (under your avatar and to the right of your post) is darker now for me on Chrome.

URL shortener? Looks like a normal Youtube link to me?Or whatever it's called when it autolinks and cuts out the middle of the URL. Which before meant that http links wouldn't end up expanding the shoutbox.
Just a note there is some issues with the shoutbox's rendering on my screen (1024x768)I have similar issues as well—see my first two screenshots.image(https://wintreath.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FYUpjTrmg.png&hash=23adb0621ccb748683f7d244d2f14393)
Widened borders? The margins are significantly smaller on my screen:
Actually, I'd like to retract this claim. I tried loading up some pages, and in my opinion at least the forum looks a lot worse on mobile now:On the other hand, on mobile it looks basically the same as before, just with the boxes moved to hug the left side of the screen.
The post page is the same as it was last night, so I guess you missed it, but I haven't had a chance to do anything there yet. The solution is probably to put the poster information above the post rather than on the side, and that way you have more space for posts. I'm also not sure why the empty space to the right is appearing...it's not doing that even on low resolutions on desktop. I'll have to look into it.But then you'll have to scroll more, which would be quite annoying... Contrast this with how it was previously, where you had far more useful information packed onto the screen.
There haven't been any other changes in the last few days...the sidebar is set to a dynamic width, so it'll be larger on bigger screens and smaller on smaller screens, and it looks like the link in the shoutbox is stretching it. It looks like with the link you need a resolution width of ~1300px for the shoutbox not to stretch.I'd be fine with that last option.
The best way to handle it would probably be for the code to detect URLs and then through something like an API use an existing service to shorten it...I know Google's link shorter has an API for something like that. I just haven't decided whether its worth it to keep the existing shoutbox though (other options include coding a new shoutbox, moving it to its own page or tab, or moving it so that it takes up the full page width and is above or below the forum (as many other regions do)).
Don't know if it's possible, but something like that for our Steam group would be pretty cool, too. Might help facilitate playing together by showing who's online and what they're playing.Good idea...I'll have to look into if it's possible at some point. :)
The override option is in.
Your Menu -> Edit Profile -> Options -> Force Desktop Version?
Odd, it works completely for me.The override option is in.
Your Menu -> Edit Profile -> Options -> Force Desktop Version?
I turned this on and it didn't work...
It worked for everything except for the sidebar, which is still on top of the rest of the forum.
I don't think I ever said the sidebar wasn't useful, I think I said that it's unlikely people are checking it every time they refresh the front page because the information on it doesn't change often. :PYeah I was mostly joking, just found it mildly amusing
And really, it still hasn't...birthdays will update once a day, and the MC server doesn't have all that many people on it lol
You could put some of the Info Data information there, like who is currently online? I'm not sure how useful that would be (or how doable), but it's a reason to check it.Do you mean like the who's online list at the bottom?
Yeah I was mostly joking, just found it mildly amusingAhh
Do you mean like the who's online list at the bottom?Yes.
Many mobile devices/browsers by default scale websites to a higher resolution in an attempt to make the whole site appear on the browser without having to scroll horizontally. The mobile version of the site forces the browser to use the actual resolution of the device with no scaling, while the option to force the desktop version removes that restriction so that the resolution scales beyond what would trigger the sidebar to move to the top.All of the width ones are 360 except for client width and offset width, which are both 346
My guess is that your device/browser doesn't do this and actually uses its native resolution by default, which would still trigger the mobile site. Perhaps it's an older device?
Out of curiosity, go to this website and post back the numbers for everything related to width: http://ryanve.com/lab/dimensions/
How so?I think I've probably misread the issue here, but aren't most mobile sites created by reading user agent data to determine whether someone is on mobile?
I think I've probably misread the issue here, but aren't most mobile sites created by reading user agent data to determine whether someone is on mobile?I'm sure some do, but most websites that I'm aware of use width through CSS @media queries. Ultimately, they aren't so much mobile websites as they are low-resolution websites...it's simply that mobile devices make the most use of them.
I'm fairly certain that most mobile websites, or professional ones at least, use user agents. Try getting a user agent switcher (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-g/ffhkkpnppgnfaobgihpdblnhmmbodake) and look at Google, Wikipedia, reddit, news sites, etc. Even Wintreath has those Tapatalk popups.I think I've probably misread the issue here, but aren't most mobile sites created by reading user agent data to determine whether someone is on mobile?I'm sure some do, but most websites that I'm aware of use width through CSS @media queries. Some updates to the recruiter pageGood to see the all-time activity back. Helps put things into perspective.
- all-time activity has been added back
- only nations from the last hour display on the page
- an attempt to fix the issue where nations clicked just before update reappear
Good to see the all-time activity back. Helps put things into perspective. Thanks for the feedback. :)
Why change it so that only nations from the last hour appear?
That explains it...the cutoff is 800 pixels.Well, somehow it works now...
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I can't seem to middle click on nations from the recruitment portal to open them in new tabs. Is there any way to fix that?If you're using Chrome, you can use Ctrl+Click. I'm not sure why it changed in that browser, but that's what I do.

So apparently "logout" logs you out of every device you've logged into? Is this intended?Since it's never changed, I imagine so.
Oh look. A new addition to the sidebar.Found a minor glitch:
The birthday box has been moved from the newsfeed sidebar to the index page sidebar, and now takes the specified timezone of the viewer into account. As before, it will only show if a member has a birthday today.I just noticed that the link in the birthday box doesn't work.
I'd love to take credit for it, but it wasn't my doing. :Pwait then what happened
All natural selection. See it would appear that the significant sections of the shoutbox have lost their url-annoyingness code, and over time this will become the norm, and all that will be left are cool shoutboxes, strengthening the species.I'd love to take credit for it, but it wasn't my doing. :Pwait then what happened
wait then what happenedIt's all you, baby!
So there's a new thing in the sidebar. :PWOO!
I noticed that, on mobile, the search bar thing at the top is black now. It used to be white just like most websites.Search bar thing? I'm not sure what you mean.
Ooh since when did RMB show up on the newsfeed? :DIt's been a thing for awhile, but it was disabled because it broke the news feed. I guess I did something to inadvertently make it work again, lol.
Well, it may or may not have broken it again:Ooh since when did RMB show up on the newsfeed? :DIt's been a thing for awhile, but it was disabled because it broke the news feed. I guess I did something to inadvertently make it work again, lol.
Is the news feed broken for anyone else? That happened to me the day before, but it worked for me yesterday, and it's now broken again.
It just says Wintreath new feed but doesn't display any posts.
Never mind; it's probably just my weird phone, and it stopped doing that anyway.I noticed that, on mobile, the search bar thing at the top is black now. It used to be white just like most websites.Search bar thing? I'm not sure what you mean.
Is there not a simple way to just get that space removed?@Cinciri could you go and see if you have a space at the end of your name, and remove it if there is one?
its not letting me for some reason? I remove the space, but after I hit update it comes backIs there not a simple way to just get that space removed?@Cinciri could you go and see if you have a space at the end of your name, and remove it if there is one?
Looks like the detection to see if that field changes removes trailing spaces, it doesn't recognize that you changed it so it doesn't bother saving it. Change it to something like "Cinciri1" first, and then to "Cinciri"? That should work. Just tested it, see, my name now temporarily has a trailing space, will remove when solution confirmed. So the normal quote button broke completely when I tried to quote you, shows this:
Interesting, didn't expect that. After that post I decided to try to put 247 spaces at the end of my name, to get to 255 characters. It still appeared as one space in many places, so it didn't seem to matter if I had more than one, but I never tried quoting myself. I guess I should change it back now and stop trying stuff just to see what will happen, and the Simple Machines Forum people should probably not allow trailing spaces in usernames since it's so buggy, but still, interesting.oh nice it works now
I use Firefox. I'll give another browser a try, but it always used to work. Also try Ctrl+F5 on Firefox.
