Why am I running for this position?
Because I thought it would be fun to run, further perhaps I could destroy this position or something I dunno. Also, let's be honest, I kinda wanted somewhat of a contested election for this position. After all it is the LGBT thane position, which represents a decent portion of the community. It should probably have a moderately competitive election.

What do I aim to accomplish as thane?
Well, upon not actually being on LoA anymore, I would probably make my goal to keep things nice and calm and in the current state of things. After all activity breads discussions, discussion breads controversy, and controversy breeds discord.

So really, just keep things as they currently are, and maybe work to convert, I mean expand our LGBT community. This is, if I somehow even put on the ballot, let alone be allowed to run for Thane.

What qualifications or experience do I have in the LGBT area?
I'm a part of the LGBT community. I've been in Wintreath for a long time, and as such probably have a decent grasp of some aspects of the community.

How do I plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in June?
I dunno. History says I have no plan, but I dunno. I will say that I would do something though. Maybe I giant orgy or something....

Why would you want to destroy the position that you're running for ("further perhaps I could destroy this position or something I dunno.")? Also, do you have any ideas to keep things "nice and calm" and active, or to expand the community?

Because I am not entirely sure that the Thane of LGBT is even a necessary or useful position. The majority of Wintreath's community, or at least a large portion of it, seems to fall into the LGBT category. I would argue that Wintreaths LGBT community is a large part of Wintreath, and that The Pride and the LGBT thane miss the forest for the trees as it were.

This can be seen with the Campaign of the Marriam, in which she is running on the creation of controversy and the like in order to try and increase activity. Perhaps this is because such an area is unnecessary for most people. However I could just be wrong here, which is why I am running for this position. This way I could perhaps gain a new perspective on it, and see for myself if such a position holds use.

But honestly, I'm not entirely sure the position needs to exist, as I view the LGBT portion of Wintreath as a core part of Wintreath's community that can't really be separated. However I do not wish to, at least, give it a try

Did you know that the reason Hannah joined Wintreath is because when she came across our region we were celebrating International Transgender Day of Visibility and we had something on our WFE about it? She saw that we had a focus on something that was important to her and that we would embrace who she was. And many people post in their Citizenship apps that they come here for the LGBT community...they come here for the same reasons. It makes sense to have someone dedicated to tend to our LGBT community and brainstorm new ideas and ways to make our community even warmer and more welcoming for them, so that it will grow bigger and stronger, which is one of the goals you yourself listed.

It's no different than having a Thane of Gaming that tends to the gaming community, or a Thane of Werewolf who tends to the Werewolf community, or a Thane of Roleplay who tends to the RP community...they're all major aspects of the region that deserve dedicated attention from at least one person. We want each one to grow bigger and stronger.

I mean sure, there are things like that, and we can do that. However does it really require a dedicated position for it? Further I'm not sure if I exactly got across how I feel about it. This is that our LGBT community is a core part of Wintreath, it is not able to be subdivided. As such while yes, someone can say they joined for our LGBT community, our LBGT community is the Wintreath Community (as well as the non LGBT members). Further creating a division of the LGBT and Non-LGBT may lead to some issues down the line. I further believe there is a difference between a Thane of Werewolf or a Thane of Roleplay, and a Thane of LGBT. The former are based on activities, the latter is based on Identity. When you divide a community based upon identity, you then get further issues.

Again, perhaps there is information I do not have, or there is something I don't know that would elucidate why this position exists. If such things exist, then I have no issue admitting that I was wrong, but there hasn't really been that much information that would show otherwise.

The Pride does not divide the LGBT folks from the rest, though. If there were a dedicated non-LGBT forum, then yes that would divide, but the Pride is instead a place to highlight our LGBT community. And any LGBT-related talk does not have to take place there as we've seen it all over the forums, but it is a good place to go if someone were not comfortable posting elsewhere.

And I created the Thane position to help take care of the Pride since we had people in the past say they came here for the LGBT community but couldn't really see it. The Thane and the Pride then are meant to make new LGBT members feel particularly welcome and continue to build up the community so that those who do come here for that reason stay.

This is that our LGBT community is a core part of Wintreath, it is not able to be subdivided. As such while yes, someone can say they joined for our LGBT community, our LBGT community is the Wintreath Community (as well as the non LGBT members). Further creating a division of the LGBT and Non-LGBT may lead to some issues down the line. I further believe there is a difference between a Thane of Werewolf or a Thane of Roleplay, and a Thane of LGBT. The former are based on activities, the latter is based on Identity. I don't see how this divides. An LGBT forum is merely a centralized location for LGBT-related discussion and activities, and the Thane is there to help promote said discussion and activities. It's not like anything is being segregated; LGBT-related discussions occur throughout the forums regardless of whether there's a specific place to post such things.

I, for one, consider myself about as straight as you can get, yet have never felt excluded when participating in any discussions in the Pride or elsewhere.

This is an overt and disgusting twisting of my words. I said that i was prepared now to discuss more controversial issues than before, as I wasn't as active as i could've been precisely because i was afraid of provoking controversy, and it's not easy to stay away from that when discussing LGBT issues.

I said that i was prepared now to discuss more controversial issues than before, as I wasn't as active as i could've been precisely because i was afraid of provoking controversy, and it's not easy to stay away from that when discussing LGBT issues.

That's how I read it. Of course your further clarification makes that statement clearly incorrect, and as such I do apologize it.
