Abstain

Again, nothing against Pengu, he is deserving of as much recognition as possible. As I originally stated (http://wintreath.com/forums/index.php?topic=3195.msg60954#msg60954), I'm not sure it's a good idea to begin granting Paragon status to active Citizens...in a way it's the ultimate honour that can be granted by the Storting, and it's almost like the Egyptians entombing someone in a Pyramid while they're still alive. However, it's the Storting's prerogative to do with the status as it pleases, so I have opted to abstain.

Nay.

I won't deny that if anyone is deserving of being made a Paragon while still active, it's Pengu.  However, as Wintermoot has stated previously, there are several other routes available to honor him for his accomplishments and contributions, most notably the Wintreath Commendation. Paragon status remains the highest honor which can be given by the Storting, so it seems appropriate to award it to members who are either no longer active in the community or have already been honored in every other way possible.  With alternatives available, I see no reason to break precedent and award Paragon status to a still-active member of the community.

Nay.

Rolling with the general consensus here, it'd make more sense to grant him some other commendation rather than Paragon status; it's something that should be used to remember our greats, not honor them whilst they're still with us.

Nay.

While I agree the award of Paragon is the highest award that can be given by the Storting, I disagree that it should be available only to those that are gone. There are some people who go and return with such frequency I do wonder if they are here or not, and while Wintreath hasn't had that to too much extent, I feel an award should be available to all those that reach a high enough level regardless of whether they are active or not.

However, I likewise agree that such an award should only be given once all other avenues have been followed, and while I feel Pengu is worthy of an award (and that the Storting should give him one), given the Paragon's elevated status, it should be something that is awarded once all other awards have been given.

With one abstention and three votes against this act, I do declare this act has FAILED.
