Title: [FLAGS] The Potato Who Would Be King
Post by: Laurentus on October 19, 2016, 11:47:15 PM: Thought it might be a nice touch to discuss our flags. And also shamelessly beg for help with creating them.

I literally just used MS Paint, and though I think my idea was not terrible, the result certainly was:

Not bad, actually. Certainly better than my idea of just switching colors of the two stripes of my main flag, which already is derivative of two other flags.

Post by: Laurentus on October 20, 2016, 03:47:08 AM: I considered just using my old one, but along with the slightly off-the-beaten-path genre and setting of the RP, I thought it might be nice to use a new flag as well. I even managed to keep it somewhat simple. My visual artistic ideas can usually be described as garish.

Anyway, for RP purposes, just pretend it's symmetrical.

The perils of being inconsistently perfectionistic and yet terrible at art...

EDIT: I think this new one looks nicer. More subtle. And also much higher res.

EDIT 2: Okay, I think I've found the one I'll be happiest with, even though it probably drifts slightly towards the garish side again.

Post by: HannahB on October 20, 2016, 10:50:46 AM: I used paint.net, the flag is based on the flag of Veneto, made by the merchant republic of Venice that was used in the 1700s, except instead of a box to represent each of the great families, here they are to represent the cities in my nation as well as their primary industries.

I want to add the gilding around the sub pictures and make the shield and swords look better. -But ran out of time v_v -

hey, hey :)) ; the 19th century was chock-a-block with weird and crazy flags, which is what I was trying to emulate :D

Post by: Cinciri on October 27, 2016, 12:05:00 AM: My flag uses components of the flag of the Crimean Khanate, specifically the little red curvatures, and then in the middle is a symbol from Dragon Age Inquisition (my 2nd favorite game ever) representing the Dalish elves, a fictional culture that represents Latvichka well. Inside each red thingy is a small image of a bow and a grain, representing the lifestyle of the Latvichka. Grain does not represent farming, they instead find places it naturally grows and cut it down, due to their nomadic lifestyle
