According to this study, which is based on a Gallup survey of 177,281 people, Indiana (the state in which I live) is the 4th most miserable state in the US. Yep, seems about right. Also, Kentucky is 3rd, and West Virginia is the most miserable, which I thought was funny considering Justinian and Wintermoot live there. Misery loves company, as they say. Can't wait to get the hell outta here.

There's just nothing here. Indianapolis is the only major city in Indiana, so you're most likely either in the suburbs, a small town, or the middle of a cornfield. It's not quaint or anything. Everything is the same. It's just depressing.

Wow! I'm surprised my home of NH is so low on the charts....I've always figured most of us are pretty happy. I know we're all pretty damn proud of ourselves. Just ask Mass or Maine. Although I suppose there are certain areas right now that are pretty busted.

Let me tell you something about driving across Indiana: you can and will get cabin fever. There is nothing in northern Indiana but gray skies, rain, and miles of rural nothing. I swear to god next time it's plane or train for me. I refuse to deal with that shit again. As for southern Indiana, it's so underdeveloped that there's nothing there but that damned Huber farm where every single aging family from Louisville and Indianapolis will come down to desperately try and get in tune with nature by picking someone else's fruit for them.

Accurate. There's a reason it's called a fly-over state.

I'm not surprised Michigan is so low on the list (40th.) After all Detroit is one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. >_>

Ayyy Minnesota is 8!!!! 

I never trust measures of happiness, especially when they rank my state 24th. As a state we should just be considered to be happily sleeping 100% of the time from November to May. I don't think the study took this obvious fact into account.
