2647 ATC: The Brotherhood of Darkness reopens the Sith Academy on Korriban for training

The Sith Academy on Korriban was a facility in use during the Jedi Civil War and later the Cold War, dedicated to training Force-sensitives in the ways of the Sith, and running archaeological projects in the Valley of the Dark Lords.

Korriban was retaken by the Brotherhood of Darkness in 1006 BBY, and they reopened the Academy. During this period the Headmaster was Qordis, and the Blademaster was Kas'im. The most powerful Sith apprentices were trained here, including Sirak, Githany, and Darth Bane, who would later destroy the Brotherhood and found the Order of the Sith Lords.

2649 ATC: Battles of Dromund Kaas, Malrev IV, and Hoth

The Brotherhood of Darkness lands armies on Dromund Kaas, Malrev IV, and Hoth, but is repelled by the Republic, led by Lord Hoth and the Army of Light.

2651 ATC: Ruusan campaign begins

The Ruusan campaign was the last campaign of the New Sith Wars. The campaign also is referred to simply as the Battle of Ruusan, although that is also used to describe the seventh battle. They consisted of seven battles and a number of minor skirmishes on the planet Ruusan that were stretched over a two year span from 1002 BBY to 1000 BBY.

During the campaign, the Galactic Republic's Army of Light was commanded by Jedi Lord Hoth, and the Brotherhood of Darkness was led by Skere Kaan, Dark Lord of the Sith. Throughout the course of the battles, additional reinforcements attempted to land on Ruusan, though many Jedi forces were destroyed by an orbiting Sith blockade and many Sith reinforcements were destroyed by the Republic Navy en route to Ruusan. Four of the seven battles were won by the Army of Light, although the first battle of Ruusan was an absolute victory for the Sith; the Republic's forces were utterly destroyed and not a single Republican escaped that battle alive.

2653 ATC:

Seventh Battle of Ruusan ends with the destruction of the Sith and the establishment of the Rule of Two

The Seventh Battle of Ruusan ends when Kaan, influenced by Darth Bane, uses the thought bomb to eradicate his enemies—but the thought bomb kills all of the Sith as well. The exception is Darth Bane, who starts a new Sith Order with only one master and one apprentice at a time, also known as the Rule of Two. Each subsequent Sith would bear the title Darth.

Ruusan Reformation

Chancellor Tarsus Valorum presides over the Ruusan Reformation, which dismantles the Republic's central authority, abolishing the Republic's standing armed forces and reorganizing its millions of sectors into 1,024 regional sectors, each represented by a single Senator.
