  • I vote for North American West Coast. Largely because I know the West Coast better, having been born/raised here and having travelled around more in the area.
I personally am more familiar with the east coast, but I thought the west coast might be a better place if more people liked it.

  • Maybe. It really depends on the situation. For example, one of my characters was going to have flying and super-strength. Those can each be their own superpower, but they wouldn't be out of place together, so I would allow it. But if you wanted to have something like animal mind control and pyrokenisis together, I would have to make you pick one or the other because those powers are two radically different ball games. What did you have in mind?

ok, forget the forbidden magic stuff question because after thinking about for a bit, I decided it was stupid and pointless.

As for the other, that's understandable. It's not gonna be anything outrageous or anything, but I just wanted to make sure. Is a character with umbrakinesis and cerebrokinesis acceptable? And to try to make them not too powerful, I can say the cerebrokinesis can only be used through eye contact and/or touch?

I proposed a character who can only control the body of a single human after several hours of continual contact, and Ashton said no. So I would think that there's basically a blanket ban on any human mind-control based powers.

There aren't any stupid ideas in Super OOC. Only illegal ones. :P

Cerebrokinesis is definitely not allowed, period. It's a fancy word for the mind control that I completely banned.

As for umbrakinesis, most of the powers under it seem to be good in theory, but there are a few concerns I have with the power as a whole:

-Shadow travel would definitely be banned or heavily nerfed, as it violates the ordinance on teleportation.
-The seeming invulnerability of the shadow/dark energy barriers might be an issue. We can resolve this easily by putting an easy to understand limit (eg "can block a cruise missile but not a nuke", etc.).
-Character control and manipulation via shadow is a no-no, unless it's indirect psychological manipulation of someone who is afraid of the dark. Direct control is out of the question.
-What does it mean when it says "can absorb shadows"? That sounds like it might violate the rule on arbitrary energy absorption/dispersion.
-Does night count as a giant shadow? If so, that might be an issue.
-Several of the aspects of umbrakinesis would have to be split into separate powers. For example, you could make shields and weapons from shadow, or you could produce shadow to make your enemies blind and yourself invisible, but not both. Healing would also have to be a separate power.

If you need help figuring out what power you want, I'm here to help.

My issue with the whole umbrakinesis thing was that it was so nebulous: making more shadow, invisibility, teleportation, pulling invulnerable shields (I've actually changed my mind on that front: shield invincibility is okay) and deadly weapons from the vaguely defined "darkness" were all things listed under umbrakinesis. If we could narrow it down to strict, easily-defined powers, that would be ideal.

Brian can generate clouds of smoke-like darkness that erase all light, mute and distort sounds, and confuse the sense of touch. It also interferes with microwaves, radio frequencies, radiation, and certain Breaker powers such as those possessed by Shadow Stalker and Velocity. He does not actually 'see' this darkness, he is aware of its location and when it is affected but it does not obscure his vision in the least.

A common tactic of his was to writhe himself in his darkness to obscure his voice and distort where his body is.
    Shadow Stalker
Sophia was capable of shifting herself into a "shadow state" which allows her to pass through walls and makes her lightweight. She could pass on these attributes onto her equipment, including shots fired by her crossbow bolts, it was unknown what her upward limit. For example, she was able to 'shadow' a fold up chair and launch it through a wall where it would materialize as a projectile, it was unknown how much effort this cost her.

It was stated that her powers affected her personality after she triggered. Becoming more aggressive and violent as a result of her trigger event.

As Shadow Stalker, Sophia carried two crossbows with both lethal and nonlethal bolts.

She was vulnerable to electricity in her shadow form, possibly more vulnerable than in her normal form. As a Ward, she had lenses built into her mask that could detect electricity.

If she "stalled" inside a solid object, she lost forward momentum and suffered excruciating pain. She also suffered as badly as anyone from pepper spray or other aerosols if she changed back while they were still inside her, if not worse.
