You might be right, but I don't know. In not sure you should be 100% confident about that. Maybe 10% confident is better.

One word:  Binary. 

For the next while I'm open specifically to serious questions about NS/Wintreath/related things...if it's successful I may make an article for the Orendi or something. If you've ever wondered about my thoughts on some aspect of the region or NS or something we're doing or did in general, now's a great time to ask.

Is there some aspect of Wintreath that has changed since its early days that you miss, and would you want to bring it back now if you could?

That's a good question.

I'm actually trying to bring back the close friendships and close-knit feeling the region had in the first year or two. Not to say we're not personable now, but back then a lot of us were really close friends that talked about anything and everything...compared to those days, I think a degree of distance has set into the community, and I think to some extent that's my fault. After some shit happened, I became more closed-off myself, and I think over time the way I was reflected into the community.

But I'm trying to be more open again, and I'm trying to make the time to be more involved with the region and be on IRC and to make the effort to have actual discussions that reflect what I'm thinking and feeling when people are around. I'm hoping in time that will reflect into the community as well. =]

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, and it basically lets people chat with each other. You can download an IRC client, or you can access it online by going to the community menu and clicking chat.

I suppose I'm somewhere between a libertarian and a liberal...I believe that consenting adults should be able to do what they want so long as it doesn't harm a third-party, and that the role of government isn't to protect people from themselves. However, I also believe that it is a role of government to protect the rights of its Citizens and to ensure that they all have the ability to sustain and advance themselves in life, especially minorities and the poor. If it helps, during the last American election I voted for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary, and then for Hillary Clinton in the general election (if only because she was preferable to Trump).

There's a link to the Steam group on the front page of the forums, but you can also search for it in the Steam client and join that way. There's no restrictions on who can join.

I'm not sure that the Steam group has ever been very active, but people still join it and it's there in case we ever want to do anything with it in the future. I haven't personally been on the MC server lately, but from what I've been told it's been fairly active lately but you can still sometimes go on and nobody else be around. I guess that's mostly from being small though.

As for what got me started, I was looking for political simulation games one day a few years ago, and NS was one of the first links...there weren't many free games, so I gave NS a try and here I am now.

It sounds like you think that outcome is inevitable.

No, I don't, because I want to cultivate something that matters to people, whether it's because of the people they can get to know, the things they can do, or the impact they can make...or they just like having a place to relax and have fun. If there was absolutely nobody left at some point in the future, that means I failed to make something that matters to the people who were here. It's not going to end, at least as long as I have something to say about it.

When I do think of Wintreath in the future, I'm either thinking of what could be done to make it better, or I'm dreaming of more successful futures...sometimes outlandish futures. Like last week I was talking with someone about how awesome it'd be to do a real-life neighborhood, full of those tiny houses, where people that wanted to live close to each other could easily and cheaply do so. Kinda like Wintreath, but off-line. At least the person I was talking to thought it was a cool idea.

When I put my heart into something, I'm in it to win it. Wintreath is no exception.
