The Wire is definitely on my watch list.
After seeing it recommended on Reddit, I watched the HBO series John Adams for the past few days. It's only 7 episodes of an hourish long, so it's a quick watch.
I really liked it. It made the whole founding of America story quite interesting, coming from the point of view of one of the lesser talked about founding fathers. The series starts in 1770 with the Boston Massacre and Adams's defense of the British soldiers in court, then goes to the Continental Congress and the talks that led to the Declaration of Independence, Adams's time as an ambassador to France and Britain, his terms as Vice President and President, and finally his retirement years and death in 1826 at the age of 90.
The cast and acting was very good as well. Paul Giamatti of course played John Adams, Laura Linney as Abigail Adams, Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson, Tom Wilkinson as Benjamin Franklin, David Morse as George Washington, and many more.
Definitely recommend it to anyone, but especially those who wish to get a better understanding of the founding of the US as well as John Adams himself.
