Hmm... That'd be pretty difficult. Before college (which is pretty much when I stopped reading for fun until recently), it'd probably be the Chronicles of Narnia (which I read when I was like 7), the Halo novels (based on the video games), or Eaters of the Dead by Michael Crichton.

During college I pretty much read Roman historians/writers like Cicero, Suetonius, and Livy, which were interesting but were also pretty dense at times lol. Then I also read Russian authors like Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, and Gorky. Those got pretty dark, but I kinda like dark. 

After the Martian, I plan on reading the Dark Tower series and A Song of Ice and Fire. My mom really likes Stephen King and my older brother really likes Michael Crichton as well as Tom Clancy, so I might read more of them. I might have to check out Asimov, too. 

A Song of Ice and Fire is something I both love and tolerate. George R. R. Martin really isn't a good writer, stylistically and with his dialogue. But he manages to do things with his characters and his setting that keep you speculating about what will happen. I made a detailed list awhile back about some routes many of the characters could take, who they are, what their motives are and so forth, and how that might tie into the bigger mystery of just what the gods are and that whole over-arching conflict, and if I remember correctly I came up with something like 70 different possibilities. And yet someone can still surprise me by bringing up a completely plausible point about where it's heading that I could never even have imagined.

I think I'm bound to be disappointed by the end, just because of the sheer number of ways it could go down. He definitely won't be able to please all his fans.

Yeah I think that's partly why they are changing the tv show. First so people can't spoil it, but also so there's other possibilities for what can happen. I doubt both endings can suck.

I've officially been a member of Wintreath for 2 years now! Man, time flies. Since we have quite a few new members since I first held this AMA (and others have gotten to know me a little better), I'm gonna open this back up. Using this thread so people can read what was already asked/answered, though I'll gladly answer again questions that have already been asked since I've probably changed a bit since then. What's the reasoning behind your username?

It's a sort of morphing of my first and last name. I've never been good at coming up with names (just look at what I chose for the name of my familial house), but around the time I joined here, I somehow came up with "Gerrick" and it turns out its actually a real name, so it just kinda worked out.

What's the most far-fetched life goal you've got?

I don't really have life goals -- just live day-by-day. My wife hates that about me, but the way I see it, I'm never disappointed in myself. But if it's a goal that is far-fetched in that I'll never do it, I'd say become a writer/video game designer/politician -- can never get the motivation to write or think of something truly original to be a writer, don't know anything about coding or how to get in the video game industry to be a game designer, and am too introverted and too much of a slow and deliberate thinker to be a politician. Plus, the three of those together would be very odd, I think.

What is your favourite colour?

Blue and grey.

Oh, also, what's up with the equine avatar?

On top of not being able to come up with names to represent me, I also can't come up with pictures to represent me. When I created a Steam account, I just looked through the default profile picture options. Couldn't find anything very good, but ended up finding this horse avatar, and I think it kinda embodies my personality, so I chose that. Then when I joined Wintreath, I couldn't think of anything better, so I just used it again.

Let's get down to brass tacks, here. Penguins or Cookies?

Penguins... Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
