So I had an idea, why not organize my own little event, for funsies. So here is my idea(I'm currently gauging interest in this idea). The idea is a Competition called: Programmeringstävling which is Swedish for Program Competition). The competition would be split into two parts, the programming part and the voting part. The first part will be 5 days or so in length, and the voting would be about 3 days to a week long. The objective is to make a program that fits in the theme or in the restrictions(I'm debating the restrictions part). The program must be coded from scratch within those 5 days, afterwards no edits(excluding grammatical errors and spelling errors in displayed text) will be allowed. Changing your program will disqualify a competitor(excluding the exemption). After the voting period is up the top 3 winners will be announced.

Also all entries will be sent to the 'council' a group of Wintreans that will run the Competition. The council should usually be made up of: The Event Organizer, The Jarl of Culture, and The monarch. The council doesn't have to be made up of them though and can be changed by the Event Organizer(although should they not be apart of the council they will not be able to control or have any say in the event after it starts)

Here are the rules and regulations:

• You must make the program from scratch by yourself within 5 days
• No one on the Council may join the event
• Mods for games are acceptable, but you must be able distribute the game, or a link to the game, provide installation instructions, and the game must be free
• Submissions must occur prior to or at 12:00 Midnight CST or else they will not be valid
• No teams are allowed
• You may use libraries and API's but you must gain the written approval of a council member prior
• You can not edit your program after the 5 days or up(excluding fixing grammatical or spelling errors), until the event is over
• The program may be written in any language but you are responsible for compiling the program
• The program must have something to do with the Theme(at the very least at least mention it in text or something).
• The theme will be announced 3 hours prior to the event starting
• Any text displayed by the program must be in English
• Source must be released upon the request of a council member.
• The program may be as simple or as complex as you wish
• Should there be a prize the Winner of the prize has 96 Hours to claim it, should they fail to do so, the prize shall go to the next in line for the same amount of time.(Note: it should go from 1st place to 2nd place to 3rd place.) Should none of the places claim the prize the prize is unclaimed and it is up to the Council to decide what to do.

Alright so these are the rules I came up with. I'm mainly looking to get feedback on this idea. And also I know that there are not that many programmers in the region, but this would give us a unique event that no other region has done in a form, at least to my knowledge, and would give our culture more uniqueness due to the fact that we are the only ones doing that, thus people who do program might be attracted to Wintreath, or people may also learn to code to participate.

Sounds interesting.  I have zero programming knowledge whatsoever, so I don't think I could offer any useful feed back.  But I like this idea.  It's different, it's fresh, and I can see where it would be really fun.

Very interesting...I don't know how many programmers there are in the region, but I'm a fan of these sorts of 'do something and then have a vote' contests.

Great idea, Chanku! Can I suggest adding a prize, to encourage people who might be on the fence about trying the challenge.

As the Jarl of Culture, I would be willing to buy the winner a Steam game. If, of course you think that would help the turnout.

While I don't think a prize is necessary, as I'm trying to run a Ludum Dare type competition, I'm willing to possible have some form of prize(although people would have to be willing to get prizes for the competition as I can not get anything ATM) to help increase turnout if necessary.

Yeah I know there aren't that many people in here that would be able to participte, however it would be a unique event, plus someone may learn to code just to participate, or it may attract new Citizens who know how to.

By a quick count, we have 4 programmers.
